Papsoe (25083) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 22, 2013
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a pitch black with hardly any head at all. Greasy hop aroma - smelly feet and mice - with tons of dried fruit. Rich body, lowish carbonation, heavy roast, ashes and dust and again some dark dried fruit. Bitterish, warming finish. Good apart from the horrible smell. 220413

It pours a rather viscous black liquid with barely any head. Aroma of roasted malts and hop resins; nice but mild. Full bodied, with round mouthfeel; strong roasted malt flavor, with dark chocolate, light residual sweetness, some ashes, a bit of salty liquorice, and very strong bitterness (some of it from the roastiness).
Solid beer, very good; fresher should be better.

Bottle at home ... dark malts ... thin tan lacing ... soft deep chocolate roast ... dark malts ... rich nose ... sweet roast ... dark malts ... big chocolate ... quite a meaty roast ... little bitter in linger ... really nice up front but not sure the linger works for me

Leighton (11874) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2013
Bottle at the ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London - thanks to some dude, I’m sure. Pours oily, black-brown with a brown foam head. Sweet chocolate nose, moderate roast present. Big sweet flavor with dirty and earthy bitterness, some bittersweet cocoa, dark chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with earthy bitterness, bitter bakcing cocoa. Good stuff. Nice bitterness balances the dark sugars.
