Cask conditioned handpump Lyric London 13/05/13. The pumpclip now describes this as a half Black IPA and that’s probably about right if such a thing exists as it’s too hoppy for a mild and not quite there as a BIPA. It’s a good beer for all that. Black with a white bubbly head. Slightly smoky and roasty in the nose with good citrussy hopping. It’s the same in the mouth but the hops are less pronounced. A very good session beer at 3.4%. Tasty.

Cask at The Euston Tap, London. Pours light brown with a tight, off-white head. Has a very pleasant aroma with notes of milk chocolate and ground coffee. Flavor has a nice and roasty flavor with light sweetness and some burned wood bitterness. Yep, lots of burnt wood, almost to an abrasive extent. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Roasted malt finish, some baking cocoa, a bit of coffee, very faint sugars but some lingering, earthy bitterness. Not bad.
