COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Jackhammer is a very dark brown ale with a nice reddish hue. Offering a welcome warming sensation, it has a rich malty sweetness. Fruity esters, expected in this style beer, add to the already complex palate and help to provide an immensely satisfying experience!

Bot. Thick spreading aroma of heavy ale. Initially, I think Iím hitting impy stout but then there is this finer attitude about it. Malty fer sure and then there is a very weak sensation of milk stout. Quite complex and somewhat rude throughout. Strong warming sensations all round. Better not drink 2 of these, I think Iím getting a little dizzy. Obnoxious and rude finish. Over the top. Too much for my girlie taste buds. Not impressed. Seems like it was a bastard child of an impy stout daddy and an American barley wine mommy.

12 oz. bottle from DrSilverworm - thanks, Chris! Pours a mahogany color, not quite opaque, with a small khaki ring that settles into a thin ring. Notes of toasted and chocolate malts, tobacco, earth, dark dried fruits, and a hint of mellow roast. Medium-bodied, with low to moderate carbonation and a smooth, earthy, malty mouthfeel. Best Iíve had from them.

12 oz bottle shared with ebone1988. This one is from Dumpster Box No. 1. The pour is a dark dark brown with lots of ruby shining through and a huge dense head that falls down to a thicker cap. The aroma is not good. There is a ton of metallic bullshit happening. There is a light roasted malt and a really sweet metallic finish. This is going to be bad. Ugh. Here we go. The flavor is dominated by metallic. There is a decent dark fruit and a light roast. The sweetness goes away in lieu of a slight bitterness but the metallic is really dominating here. The mouth feel is just bad. It's got a sharp carbonation to go with a decently thicker feel. The carbonation makes it feel like I'm drinking a soda. The finish is metallic and sweet with a little caramel present as well. This is just another fail from Arbor. Damnit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with koleminer20 out of Dumpster Day box #1. Aroma is caramel, toffee, sugar, metallic, the metal is pretty overwhelming. Appearance is dark brown, light tan head, poured thin. Taste is metallic, lots of that, followed with caramel, toffee, malt. Mouthfeel is medium body and light carbonation, with a very metallic aftertaste. Overall, if this wasnít so metallic it wouldnít be half bad.

Dark brown color; dark enough that itís hard to tell if itís clear or cloudy; sparse light tan head. Aroma is malty, mostly bread and a touch of caramel. Hops are pretty subdued. Sweet with mild bitterness. Medium bodied; slightly oily texture; average to just a bit soft carbonation; finish is moderate length, sweet and bready. Overall itís not bad, but pretty sweet and simple.

12oz bottle, thanks to Michael. Nice chocolate up front, good earthy hop, some caramel. Mild roast. Medium to bigger body, decent full feel. Lighter carbonation. Mild slick texture. Very dark red brown color. Ring of bubbly khaki head, some small bits of lace. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter, pleasant touch of heat. Plum, raisin in the finish. Smooth, tasty old ale. Satisfying to enjoy with my sandwich, but a bit sweet on itís own.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, brown sugar, raisin, plum, cherry, pear, apple, light chocolate, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt, fruity/earthy yeast, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, brown sugar, chocolate, raisin, plum, cherry, pear, apple, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, dark bread, chocolate, brown sugar, raisin, plum, cherry, pear, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good old ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours a dark brown with large light brown head. Nose is molasses, dough, earthy coffee. Medium body, slight sweetness to start with flavors of molasses, toffee, burnt malt gives slight hint of bitterness. Creamy and slightly oily with long finish. Decent beer, fairly balanced.

Bottle shares by Adam. Thanks man. Hazy yellow body with soft white head. Aromas include lemons, hops, crackers. Bitter hops with lemony, tart citrus and a tangy finish. Pretty good.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish brown pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, dark sugars, hints of bready notes, dark fruit into some woody notes, hints of vanilla in there as well. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, hints of sweet caramelized sugars into some grass, bread, dough, some vanilla, finishing sweet. Pretty decent.
