COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Jackhammer is a very dark brown ale with a nice reddish hue. Offering a welcome warming sensation, it has a rich malty sweetness. Fruity esters, expected in this style beer, add to the already complex palate and help to provide an immensely satisfying experience!

Fairly deep copper color. Definitely some sweet notes. I had with a plain old cheeseburger, it matched pretty well, however, I was pretty drunk when I drank this. Nothing entirely remarkable about this beer, but itís something I would contemplate buying again.

Way too carbonated...maybe a bad bottle. Flavor of the beer was a bit unbalanced...harsh in the finish. Strong hops and sweet malt, but not the best balance.

Pours dark brown with no head. Slight aroma of fruits. Light sweet. Thin palate. Average.

Several bottles in various glasses over the years. Heavy malt sweetness without being syrupy. Mild hops. A very good Old Ale.

On tap at brewery. Deep red pour. Didnít get the advertised "chocolate covered cherry," but did get elements of tart booze as it warmed.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2010 Pours a hazy, ruby-toned brown. Small-to-medium head fades quickly to moderate lacing with fine bubbles. Aroma of dark fruits, cherries, mild oak notes. Itís not bad, but all of the flavors are muted and on the stale side. It takes the "old" part seriously. Moderate body, slightly creamy, almost decent carbonation, mildly sweet with a slight sour, lactic, oaky finish thatís mildly warming. Hints of whisky on the tongue. Passable but not a great old ale. Very "to style" without being "to drink."

Pours a dark ruby with a huge khaki head. Very carbonated. Great aroma, dark fruit mixed with roasty malt. Taste starts sweet (caramel, fruit, sugar) and ends bitter with slight booze. The alcohol is hidden well though, but you can feel it. Very well balanced from beginning to end. This is one of the best winter warmers Iíve had. Must try.

Poured a very dark amber which seemed highly carbonated and had a thick, light brown head that stayed foamy for awhile. Smells sweet, almost belgian-y with maybe a little hop in there. The flavor is a rich olde ale consistant with others that I have tried (and quite good!). It’s sweet with a bitter finish and a bit of a tart aftertaste. It’s medium-bodied in the mouth and quite drinkable. Seems pretty gentle for 8.5% and well worth the try!

sample at brewpub. Very fruity and hoppy, it has a complex taste and a texture that I like, but the taste of the alcohol is a little too prominent.

Dark red black brown opaque with an off white good head, Aroma is malt and fruit with a taste of caramel and coffee gotta be honest though getting a bit hammered from all the other beers Iíve been testing, Good but not as good as the others. Thin mouth feel.
