COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Jackhammer is a very dark brown ale with a nice reddish hue. Offering a welcome warming sensation, it has a rich malty sweetness. Fruity esters, expected in this style beer, add to the already complex palate and help to provide an immensely satisfying experience!

Deep brown with a red hue. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruit and nuts. A smooth and rich beer, with some nuttiness, and sweetness. and mild fruit flavours. Alcohol very well hidden. It’s an interesting beer, but not mind blowing.

Pitcher pour at Arbor tasting event. Ruby red color. No head, no lacing. Nice musty old leather smells, somewhat sweet in aroma. Nice hopping balances malt bill well. Alcohol is barely perceptible. Good!

MiBG Fest 2005:

Reddish hazy hue with a small tan head. The aroma is malty with notes of maple, caramel, strawberry, herbal hops, and a bit oxidized. The taste starts salty and musty. Caramelized malt supports the twangy apple and cider character, light bitterness as well. A bit of non-aromatic pipe tobacco and a pinch of salt in the finish. The feel is sticky and full with a biting finish. Overall it is a nice beer but lacks a completeness and enjoyment factor I want in my English Olde Ales.

12 oz bottle: Aroma is big on nice caramel malt, sweet, candy, and lightly fruity on the back end. Appearance is a cloudy amber/red with a really thick off white head that lingers forever. Taste has a really caramel flavor with roasted malts, lightly fruity with light citrus notes, bready and a some hop texture. Palate is sweet on the lips, and an aftertaste of roasted caramel malts. Overall, It’s a decent Old Ale a little understated in my honest opinion. Cheers!!

11th October 2008. GABF. Presented as from the ’Corner’ brewery. This version 9.0% abv. Clear dark brown beer. Nice fruity malt with just a subtle hop finish. Dry palate. Slighty unusual.

12oz bottle. Rating #47. Extremely murky and dense dark brown with a light beige head. Light fruity aroma and a little sweetness. Toasty flavor, caramelly and a bit of a light roasts bitter finish. Pretty decent. (1936)
