Pours a dark brown, almost black, with medium tan head, decent lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, moderate chocolate, and sweetness. Flavor matches well, but definitely needed a bit more chocolate in order to carry the Mackinac Island Fudge name.

Some weirdness here and not in a good way...kinda OK dry cocoa stout, but with a metallic after taste that just kept hanging on. I wouldn’t have another one of these.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Served on tap at ABC in Ann Arbor.
Poured virtually black with a small but durable tan head.
Some chocolate in the nose but very little in the taste where there was a far mor prominent coffee note - this was the reaction of 3-of-3 craft beer drinkers at the table.
Very smooth; full body; well chosen low carbonation.
A nice stout but lacking the chocolate or fudge note that the names suggests.

Nasty. Smokey. Thin. Yuck. Rated this with another app and BeerBuddy unfortunately won't let me import comments.

On tap at Mackinaw City Brew House. Pours blak with a nice brown head and aroma of rotate malt and chocolate. Taste is light, of milk chocolate, roasted malt, and light caramel with a creamy finish. Light stout that needs more flavor

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
I have mixed feelings about this one. It's definitively a dry stout, bordering on bitter (think baking cocoa). There is a semblance of fudge in the flavor, but this type of beer seems to call out to be a sweet stout. The malt base is roasty, but is on the thin side. A little disappointing. B-

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer is fair. It’s fairly light for a fudge inspired brew, since I think fudge is very rich. This is not quite as rich as you’d think. The aroma was weak to me, and the flavor was decent. Smooth, with a typical roasted stout flavor without much harshness. I don’t think I’d buy again as I find it nondescript.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Dark brown, and a tad cloudy. Metallic roasted nose. Flavor is considerably dry; little evidence of fudge; light astringency. A metallic, and aggressively cloying mouthfeel on a body with too little viscosity. Not a fan. Saugatuck’s Neapolitan Milk Stout blows it away.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma is sweet, semi-roasted malt with some coffee and chocolate. Appearance is dark brown with a light brown head, pretty carbonated. The taste is pretty smoky, almost like a wood fire. Some roasted malt comes into play at the end but the flavor is overwhelmingly smoky. The mouthfeel is carbonated, as expected. Overall, this is severly disappointing.
