sneagrams3 (1464), St. Louis, Missouri, USA May 23, 2008 Tasted 5/16/08. 12oz bottle. Hazy and opaque brown hue. Moldy ring of bone white head. Toasty with a slight raisin and fudge and cocoa aroma. Sweet sugary malts. Very sweet. Syrupy sweet with a slight bitterness. Mild effervescence. Sweet breads. Medium to full bodied and sticky. Slight hoppy character. Good esters. Apples and berries. Less sweet and more tart as it warms. Slight orange and graham cracker flaovr. Good tart citrus note. Nice roast and yeast character. Lingering finish. Very nice!
flatmatt (113), Northville, Michigan, USA Nov 26, 2008 On tap at the brewpub, served in a tulip. Dark red brown with a small head. Muted yeasty and dark fruit aroma. Flavor is similar, with the expected dark fruit and yeasty cloves, but again a little watered down. It was served a bit on the cold side and the flavors came out a bit more as it warmed. Flavor is good, but it’s not strong enough. Hudspart (327), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle: Pours light with a thich head. Aroma of fruits and malts. Not bad, but not a great dubbel. jcwattsrugger (4087), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Aug 21, 2008 12 oz bottle-pours a thin light tan head and brown color. Aroma is medium malt, some musty dark fruit. Taste is medium malt, some musty dark fruit. Mild carbonation. hombrepalo (545), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 4, 2008 12oz bottle. Solid Dubbel. Overexceeded my expectation of this style. Yeasts were not as dominant as I would expect for a belgian style beer, but still a great make. Poured a dark brown color with some brownish head, minimal lace. Taste is carmely and fruity, some yeast. esay going brew with a pleasant aftertaste. Enjoyable to the finish. rudolf (1572), Buffalo, New York, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Goodbar Beer Club. Nose is nearly burnt malt, a bit of fruit, alcohol, yeasty & spicy. Flavor is rich malt, caramels, bitter (but not acrid) malts, tart, almost green apple but not quite - somehow tarter. Like a dubbel with a bit of cherry/stout/wood.
