3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 umich03jm (985) - Allen Park, Michigan, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Bottle, but had this on draft before too. Pours a nice clear copper color with an obnoxiously big foamy head that fades very slowly. Aroma is faint, toasted malt, caramel, some grassy/floral hops. Taste is really good though. The toasted amber malt is the focus here and I like it. Dry floral and spicy hops show up in the finish. I’m obviously in the minority here but I really like this beer and find myself buying it fairly often.

I know that Pale Ale’s are a preferred taste, but this was way too bitter for me; I couldn’t even bring myself to finish the ones I bought.

Dark red/brown with sticky off-white lacing. Very light nose of roasted hop. Palate is hoppy but with a definite roast/campfire flavor. Citrus and grass flavors are also present. Good. Different.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of Sean and Amber (2beerguys.com). Look is a hazy brown ale with thin white head that showed plenty of retention. Lots of retention. Nose is hops with slightly roasted malt. Light effervescence with spicy hops. Light lingering hops. Nice to try.

A somewhat unique one. Pours reddish amber with fluffy head. Lacing abounds as the aroma of roasty malt and hops comes off the top. Very roasted flavor up front, and strong bitter finish. I liked this one or its unique flavors. Interesting!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TheBrewSherpa (269) - Belvidere, New Jersey, USA - AUG 3, 2012
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a red amber hue with a thin, white head with good retention and has good lacing.
S: Toasty caramel flavors with some floral and herbal hops. Nutty aroma with some citrus and a touch of grainy roasts.
T: Follows the nose, with the nuttiness a bit more pronounced. A distinct roasted character to the malt, more toasted wheat bread than the deeper roast you get with porter and stouts.
M: Medium body with average carbonation.
O: A little rough and unbalanced, but still a decent session beer.
Serving: bottle

Cloudy amber color. Medium body and head. Sour overtones are surprising for an amber ale. Not much "floral" IMO.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hopdog. A sweet biscuit and caramel nose. The flavor is spicy, light strawberries, caramel, very smooth and fruity.

12 ounce thanks to mikem409. Chocolate a bit for an amber. Bit of malty and caramel finishes it off.

Bottle. Both a malt and hop aroma... Roasted. Carbonation is high, bitter taste and lingering finish. Decent beer but I wouldn’t run back.
