UPDATED: DEC 2, 2013 Tap: dense copper with amber at the edges; opaque and inviting with a thin, white paper head that dissipates hastily to ring, but still leaves excellent lacing behind. Aroma is floral hops, pines, woodsy grains, roasted barley, biscuits, and a back-end hint of citrus peel. Taste is filled with toasted grains and rye from start to finish. Floral tones & hops take a back seat to the malt and the rye. Quite overpowering and very, very dry in the finish. Medium bodied, a little creamy, just outside of chewy. Intense brew, very spicy and filled with rye.

Aroma is sweet hops and rye. Appearance is very orange, with an off-white head. The taste is very malty, sweet, pretty rye forward and finishing hoppy. Mouthfeel is pretty decent, little carbonation. Overall, it’s not bad, but there are better ryes out there.

Draft to snifter. Looks good; a cloudy terracotta with sticky off-white lacing. Smells and tastes semi-sweet and malty with a spicy rye presence. Average on the palate. Not bad, but forgettable.

Quarter inch of white head on top of a cloudy caramel brown pour. Decent legs. Smells sweet with some bitter, Belgian-like spices, anice and cloves, wheaty too. Overall very subtle aroma. Sweet, light taste. Bitter rye and burton salt flavors. Somewhat watery, flat mouthfeel. Finish is not too inspiring but pretty clean. Not bad but nothing outstanding. Misleading name regarding strength.

As you might expect fron a beer called ’Ryeclops’ this is intensely spicy and bitter with some minor sweetness and floral hops that try to maintain the balance. Outstanding!

On tap at Corner Brewery. Pours an orangey amber with a white head. Citrus spicy hop aromas with a slight berry sweetness. Flavor is hoppy bitter citrus (lemon, grapefruit), floral, toasty biscuit. Quite nice.

On draft at Old Chicago in Southgate, MI. An intense imperial rye IPA. Huge spicy rye taste (probably a little too much) but still fairly smooth. A good overall Imperial Rye.

Draft sample at MBGWF 2011. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy hop and rye aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where again met.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Murky orange-brown body, thin to medium tight tan head. Fruity nose with spicy, leafy hops; citrusy. Spicy, bitter, citrusy body, balanced by toasty, fruity malts. Estery.
