COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
As the name suggests, we’ve used just one variety of hop in this pale golden ale. Brewed with just low colour Maris Otter malt and a little wheat for head retention, we’ve selected some of the more “interesting” hops and added several bucket loads to each brew. Currently we’re using one of our favourites, NZ Motueka. Expect a tropical citrus twist, with hints of lemon and lime.

Cask, The Swan & Rushes, Leicester. Golden with an off white foam. Aromas are green apple with light grapefruit and bready yeast. A bit sudsy with clean melon and white grape. Flavours are clean grain with mellow pithy grapefruit and spices. Sweet white grape with green apple skin. Dry with a lightly nutty, leafy finish. Mellow but nice.

On gravity at Parkstone beer festival; gold, no head; the first beer of the festival is often the best and this wasn’t the exception - a classic grapfruity pale ale, but nicely soft, with lots of grassy hops; straightforward but good and moreish; I tend to avoid Arbor because of the ridiculous and annoying number of one-off beers they brew - I fortunately forgot on this occasion; chances of ever coming across this again are unfortunately very slim, however.

500ml bottle. Pours a hazy pale gold, with a smallish white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves a little lace. Mandarin, mango and floral hops notes sit over a caramel base to create an appealing aroma. Mango and mandarin hops up front segue into a light caramel body. Floral hops come through in the finish. This crisp golden ale serves as a good vehicle for Motueka hops. Quite enjoyable.

Cask @ Old Fountain. Listed as "Motueka" @ 3.8%, so I’ll put this here. Still, strange that Arbor have separate entries for single hop goldens that only differ by .2%. Gold with a small head. Almost cheesy, funky nose. Tangerine, tropical undergrowth. Salted cheesecake. Similar flavor. Slightly oily creamy funk. A touch of acid and citrus fruits. Mildly bitter finish. Light oily body, soft carbonation. OK.

Murky copper with a small white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Flavours of tropical fruits, pine, nectarine, light malt. Moderate bitter finish. Decent body for the abv. Carbonation is light to moderate and quite fine. Well balanced and very drinkable.

500ml bottle. Pours cloudy amber with a good head and a long ttle sediment. Slightly floral aroma. Not hugely complex but has a really good hit of hops. Light and refreshing with a substantial but not overwhelming bitter finish. A slight grassiness in there too. Just my kind of beer.

BCA, Rehills, Newcastle. Had this on cask as part of their single hop series a while back. ABV reduced to 3.8 from 4 so not sure if it’s a different beer or not? Anyhow, this has lovely soft, peachy tropical fruit aromas, with a creamy mouthfell and a hint of subtle citrus late on. Pours quite a murky gold colour, with a good white, foamy head, that stays throughout. Very tasty.

Cask, Carlisle BF. Very pale yellow beer, with a decent, sharp nose and a good bittersweet tang and bite. Aftertaste is fruity and just a touch woody.
