COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Occasional;
A short walk from the brewery brings you to Snuff Mills on the River Frome. The old mill was actually used to grind corn, not snuff as its name suggests. The name is believed to originate from an early nineteenth century miller whose smock was always covered in snuff. Interesting and possibly even true! Brewed using the same ingredients as our Slumberjack, we’ve tinkered with the mash slightly to give a much higher final gravity. The result is less alcohol and a sweet malty taste.

Cask Conditioned @ Old Green Tree, Bath. Deep brown. Liquorice, tobacco, bready malts. Slightly toasty. Earthy hop bitterness. Full bodied but remains drinkable. Good.

Cask-conditioned at the brewery tap, the Old Tavern, Bristol 19/3/08. Dark brown with red hints and a slight, tan head that left plenty of lacing. Dark fruit, chocolate and molasses aroma with a hint of roastiness. Smooth mouth feel with more fruit and chocolate and a grassy hop finish. Easy drinking for the ABV and very enjoyable.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Sussex Beer Festival.
Down on the list as Snuffy Jacks Old Ale with an abv of 5.9%. Mahogany red / brown with a very slight off white rim. Fruity aroma with some dark chocolate malt and slight earthy notes. Flavour is pretty much exactly the same. I really like the earthy peaty character. Tangy malt finish eventually settling on some chocolate. Pretty good stuff.
