3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BBB63 (5023) - La Porte, USA - FEB 24, 2008
2008 MBG Winter Fest, Listed as Super Snapper Imperial ESB: Muddy brown hue with golden highlights, fizzy fading head. The aroma has notes of classic and resiny bitters, pear and apple esters, caramel and bready with even a hint of rye. The taste is fruity and grassy at first supporting sweet grain base. The finish is bitter and peppery. There is a small amount of diacetyl found but does not interfere with the flavor profile too much. The mouth feel is lively and refreshing, chalky finished. A good brew and enjoyable. Worthy of a try.

On tap at Arbor Brewing Company. Poured brown with an off-white head. Aroma consisted of sweet malts. Interesting with a malt flavor but also a chocolate and hoppy flavor present.

on tap-pours an off white head and hazy copper color. Aroma is medium malt-nutty/peat, copper/earthy hops. Taste is medium malt-nutty/peat, copper/earthy hops, then some lemon/medium fruit, alcohol, yeast.

Not certain but this sounds like the beer on tap at Goodfellows on Mackinac Island. Copper color reminds of a mix between an IPA and an amber. Small head that was blotchy and uneven. Soon became a steady ring. Aroma, like the flavor, was unmalted barley and hop. Again, a mix of an amber and an IPA. Sometimes barley harshness and sometimes hop tartness. Medium feel. Quite nice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 masonjer (605) - Holt, Michigan, USA - MAR 14, 2008
Poured a nice red color off the tap. Smelled nice, inviting citrus and clean malt. Taste was a little more punchy, sitll the nice citrus, soft malt backbone, finished nice and bitter. This was drinkable and tasty.

On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Very roasty brew with amber brown color. Medium hop bitterness. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Almost a burnt flavor to it. Pretty tasty though

Pours with a deep, rusty/copper body. Mild orange and soapy grapefruit in the nose. American PNWs seem to dominate the palate with a zesty citric presence along with some sharp black pepper. There is a diacetyl undertow to put a damper on an otherwise decent beer, but a peppery linger brings back a bit of its integrity.

The pour reveals a clear dark amber color with a ring of white lace. Strong aroma and flavor of hops, it’s tasty but I would have liked more malt in there to provide some balance, the finish is bitter. The body is light to medium with soft carbonation. Good but unbalanced.

Draught. At Cole’s in Buffalo. Poured deep opaque red-brown with an average creamy tan head. Dry burnt roast malt aroma (second "burnt" beer in a row!), the hop bitterness revealed itself to me more as bark and tree mold than anything else, light alcohol character. Taste - VERY dry over-roast malt, grassy/herbal hops and I swear I got a whiff of something like near-sour milk. Solid body, good astringency, medium linger but there is a hint of carbonization there that I was really digging that day. Solid brew!

On tap at Cole’s, Buffalo. Nice malt/hop aroma. Big hop taste, with a really interesting burnt malt and roasty flavour. Just the right amount of alcohol. I really really liked it, and my enthusiasm got others at the table to order it I suspect. Nice job Arbor!
