On tap at the pub: Mahogany colored pour, with a white head. Aroma of caramel and some earthy hops. Flavor, caramel, an earthiness to it, bready.

Sample at brewpub. Pours a light brown color. The taste is sweet with mild spice. It is smooth and drinkable even with the high alcohol content.

Bottle. Poured a clear deep orangish copper with an off-white head. Aroma was full of sweet grainy notes, kind of like a sweet bread. Flavor was sweet with grains and some spice (cinnamon and nutmeg) with a bit of an alcohol bite.

On tap at the pub.Get some sweet malts and caramel in the aroma.Pours a reddish brown with an off white head.Lots of sweetness in this one.Medium body with a good bit of alcohol in the finish.

Clouby red mahogany body with a small vanishing light tan head. Too cold at first but the beer started to open up as it warmed. Very fruity, almost fruit punch aroma. The flavor is more balanced, with fruit giving way somewhat to some lght smoke and vinous sweetness. The palate is too thin. Has potenital but falls down in a few places.

Tap. Ruby amber color. Scant white head. Malty sweetish aroma with bits of fruit lingering. Decent balance. Very sweet malt flavors with hints of dark fruit.

On tap: Light malt and spice aroma. Dark transparent reddish-orange with very little head. Real sweet and malty with caramel and a sweet spice finish. Got kind of a citrus flavor lingering in the background.

Pours a clear, clean ruby brown, with a thin off-white head. Light fruity malt aroma, with a hint of banana and cinnamon. Bland fruit malt and alcohol flavor. Effervescent. Alcohol drives this car. Some warm breadyness. Lemony sour finish.

Couleur caramel aux reflets rougeâtres. Grains, foin et caramel sous une présence d’herbe marquée. Malté et légèrement fruité en bouche, l’alcool est assez facilement identifiable. Corps d’épaisseur semi mince, faible carbonatation. Michigan brewer’s fest, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Juillet 2005.

nutty caramel aroma, sweet and fruity almost cidery but lacking the sticky body I love about dopplebocks
