COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Arcadia introduces the newest addition to its stable of world class British-style ales. Brewed with the legendary Maris Otter Malt from Scotland, this beer is full-bodied and brings a taste of sweet caramel together with a hint of toasted malt that's well balenced with a solid presence of premium American aromatic flower leaf hops. From the package: "Then let us toast John Barleycorn, Each man a glass in hand; And may his great posterity ne'er fail in old Scotland!"

Slightly hazy deep amber colour with orange tints and a small off-white head. Aroma of soap, lemons, wheat and coriander seed. Decent. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong caramal and malty tastes up front fading to a bitter soapyness. Aftertaste shows malt and cardboard with little else. Overall, an alright beer - not much to expect from an Amber anyways though. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle fresh, purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan and sampled there on 22-May-2005.

Moderately fresh bottle drunk December 2008. Very bountiful beige head rises up over a copper-caramel colored body with plentiful carbonation. Notes of caramel and light raisins with a fair amount of fruitiness from the yeast (prunes, raisins and such). Toffee and vanilla on the finish with a hint of tartness (bottling line infection and unpasteurization combined?). Sweet and sticky in the flavor, but with some toasted malt smoothing things/drying things out a touch. Lots of marmalade-like flavor from the combination of hops, yeast and caramel malt. Gets a little too acidic, however from the fruitiness and toastiness. Medium to medium-dry (some continued bottle fermentation, no doubt). Alcohol well concealed.

Poured a really deep amber color with a grassy aroma. Pretty carbonated taste and feel in the mouth and the flavor went away pretty quickly. Not bad, just not one of my favorites.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2009 12oz bottle (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours a hazy brownish amber with a small covering for ahead. Aroma of sweetness, bubblegum, and . Taste of sweetness, malt, caramel, and finishes a bit dry. This medium bodied brew does not taste like a normal amber but comes across pretty tasty. Different

Light ruby pour, slight white head. Mostly malt with light toffee/caramel. Some of the earthy tones of Arcadias other brews, but not enough hop bite. A pretty average amber with a little more alcohol than usual.

Unfiltered amber with the trademark (at least from the bottles I bought) colossal tan head. Aroma of grassy hops, cereal, light sweet malts and something musty. Over carbonated and caramel, earthy hops with a mild bitter – yet sweet – finish.

A very nice looking darker orange, cloudy with plenty of rolling carbonation for a show. Big foamy unfading head, probably because it was subject to a sudden jolt. Good carbonation. Chocolaty and malty at times. Quickly revealing lacing. Strong on the alky side as far as taste impression goes. Long lingering bitter finish. Quite a personality. .

12 oz. notched at "E" and "1", whatever that means. Cloudy copper with a huge head that walks out of the bottle and sticks around. Spicy peach, caramel, some earthy old-style barbershop hair tonic and grain in the aroma. Flavor is the same, plus some acidic apple-cherry notes after a bit, and a woody caramel apple finish. Light-medium body is smoothish and dryish with a little too much frothiness at times.
