1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 irishsnake (354) - Oakland, California, USA - JAN 11, 2007
decants a rather fizzy, lightly-hazed orange-blushed amber, with a big off-white head that retains well and leaves good lace. nose is a bit problematic. something of a soapy/detergent smell up front, with some tart fruit notes on the side. it tastes worse than it smells. I think this one is starting to go. very dry, somewhat tart...given time, I think this is on the way to malt vinegar.
well, I’m assuming this one has a problem. I’ll be happy to give it another go ’round - but this one is going down the drain.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 beerbuzzmontreal (3413) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 3, 2007
The pour reveals a cloudy amber color with a thin creamy white head. Aroma and flavor of citrusy hops and caramel. The body is light with an oily texture and soft carbonation.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 theisti (2371) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - DEC 26, 2006
Bottle - Arcadia sampler pack. Pour is amber, with a slight orange to it. Big head, decent lacing for an amber ale. Taste is malty, with OK body. Picked up on the slightest sour (orange peel?) taste. Overall, pretty ordinary.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DrnkMcDermott (2393) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - DEC 7, 2006
Sampler glass.Rating #994! I said in my previous rating of their Angler’s Ale that it might be great on cask… then the next beer was on cask! Gives it a nice creamy, smooth head. Very low carbonation, almost still. Color is on the dark side of the amber scale. Nice mouthfeel, texture of a nitro oatmeal stout. Slippery smooth.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 patrick767 (2772) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 26, 2006
draft sampler at the brewpub - Pours light amber with a nice head that hangs around awhile. A light malty aroma leads into a flavor to match. Crisp and smooth, but a little too thin, this easy to drink session brew could use something more.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 thedm (4116) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - NOV 18, 2006
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a extremely large sized head of all foam finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a very hazy no visible carbonation dark orange brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was malty dough and caramel malt. The crisp and clean mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mediumly tingly finish with a medium vinous aftertaste. The good flavor contained notes of malt hops and caramel. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hotstuff (3213) - Indiana, USA - OCT 25, 2006
Bottle. Apperance was a huge off-white frothy and fizzy head that mostly lasted, minimal lacing, no visible carbonation, floaties, cloudy, and an orange hue with a little bit of a brown tint. Nose was malty, caramel, sweet, hops, spicy, and some fruitiness. Flavor was sweet, thin, lightly bitter, mildly hoppy, spicy and somewhat fruity. Smooth, thin mouthfeel and light body. Quaffable for the style.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 blankboy (4287) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 18, 2006
Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a clear amber-orange with a friggin’ massive lasting fluffy white head. Go away head, I want to drink this sucker! Aroma is equally sweet malt and floral hops with a touch of spices -- not bad. Flavour of hops and sweet malt with some fruit and spices -- could use more flavour, it’s a little bland. Medium bodied. It’s not great but it is an Amber Ale and for the style it’s decent.
