(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Sully, thanks Mike) Given my past experience with near-gushers from Arcadia, I superchilled this beer (i.e., beginning to form ice crystals) in an effort to keep the heading down. It doesn’t appear to have helped. I still have a glass that is three-quarters foam. And talk about some stiff foam, I can bang the glass on my desk, swirl it, tip the glass sideways and the foam bounces like it’s a jello mold. Ten minutes later, I still can’t get to the beer, so it’s time to scoop the excess inches of foam off. All that work, and for what?! The predominant flavors are floral, bitter and soapy, which seems to be a signature flavor profile with Arcadia. Also, mildly sweet and caramely malts are in the background, but just can’t gather enough steam to save the beer. Again, I’m getting soap in the aroma, with some hops and light caramely malts. Medium "plus" body. Medium-dark amber, very cloudy in appearance, and lots of chunky sediment gathers along the bottom of the glass. And even still, the light tan head refused to dip below a quarter inch and leaves quite the dense curtain of lace behind. I don’t know what Arcadia does to their beers, but what seems like soapiness to me is present in many of their beers, and I don’t like it.

The pour reveals a cloudy amber color with a thin creamy white head. Aroma and flavor of citrusy hops and caramel. The body is light with an oily texture and soft carbonation. What you would expect from an amber ale. no surprises which is good sometimes, grab one after you mow the lawn

Sampled at the brewery. A nice copper color. Small head that left little lace. Thin taste of malt and gentle hops. A drinkble Amber but a bit thin.

From old rating note: 12oz bottle. Deep orange pour with big head. Aroma of citrus, sweet malt and dough. Tastes of fruit, spice and sweet malt. Thin texture.

BPW #29 Served on tap at Arcadia Brewing Company. Appearance is a crisp amber color. The aromas and flavors are light and contain some sweet caramel, and heavier doses of pale malts.

Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #30 of 90. Tap at Arcadia, shared taster (hands down best taster offering I’ve ever had...a total of 9-3oz pours for $7.99). Pours a bronze/orange. Nice malt backing and decent hop bit. One of the better ’ambers’ I’ve had.

12 ounce bottle from Vintage Cellar in Blacksburg, VA. Bottle is notched E3. Pours a hazy ruddy copper color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is caramel, toffee, toasted malts and a light tart fruity note. Taste is bitter hops, tart fruits and caramel. Medium bodied.

Poured into a tall thin Samuel Smith glass. Pour is entirely foam with some beer slowly appearing as the foam subsided. It is a nice golden tan head and is thick and sticky looking. The beer is amber gold with a good amount of carbonation visible. Aroma is bitter sweet malt with some fruit and funk. Flavor is also fruity with significant bitterness. A nice malt profile and, again, that funk. Some spice, as well. Other beers I have had from this brewer do a nice job of making beers that have an old world feel. This one does the same. This is not one I would go to on a regular basis, but it was enjoyable and interesting.

Tap @ brewpub. Amber colour, short white head. Aroma of caramel malts. Flavour is sweet, with caramel and some pilsener malts. Sligthly dry finish.

This beer sucks. It might have been infected, I am not sure. It kind of had a sour taste that led me to believe it was on the verge of being bad. Brown color, white head, smells like malt and trash can, taste is sweet and kind of sour, no hops, light alcohol burn, bleh. I will admit that it was more drinkable when I finished it than it was when I started. Still, not worth drinking.
