This strikingly authentic English-style pale ale is brewed with all English malts and a pound and a half of Pacific Northwest hops per barrel. It is medium-bodied, crisp, and well-balanced with a flavor profile featuring subtle notes of caramel, toffee and toasted malt, counterbalanced by the ideal level of hop bitterness. The delicate herbal hop finish is produced by Goldings whole leaf hops.

Cask @ Albion. Hazy dark amber with large foamy beige head, lavender aroma, low carbonation, faintly sweet cookie like taste with lavender flavor, long finish with lavender aftertaste. Quite flavorful but smooth.

Poured into a perfect pint. 2.5 A: Very lightly hazed yellow orange color. Two fingers of foamy white head. Retention is poor and scant lacing is left. 3.5 S: Wow this is skunky. Not skunky as in it got skunked by light, but rather it smells like woodland creatures with skunk being the most apparent. Mineral, floral and earthy hops, light caramel, and a touch of breadiness round this out. 3.0 T: While the skunkiness worked in the nose, itís not so great in the taste. Itís like chewing on woodchips if the wood taste was taken out(, ya I donít know what I mean either). Grainy malts with just a hint of toastiness. Floral and earthy hops. Light caramel and breadiness. Mineral woodchip creatures. 3.0 M: Lighter medium body. A bit overcarbonated as it "blows up" in the mouth a bit. Could use some more creaminess as well. 3.0 D: Itís not necessarily bad, but itís weird. Some might love it and probably more will hate it. Either way, I was glad to try it. DavoleBomb, Jul 09, 2013

A malty English style pale ale. Strong hoppy bitter finish to this one. Smells malty and is overly carbonated. Had at Arcadia brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from 12oz bottle at home. Darker orange color. Very slight fruits on the nose, but mostly earthy and brown sugarish. The taste is nutty, malty and earthy. Not bad.

pours cloudy almost dirty dark golden orange with a frothy off-white head, good retention and lacing. oranges and spices, pepper, fruity toasted maltiness - sweet toasted bread, nuttiness and caramel as well, earthy angles - with some bittering coffee grinds, carbonic acid, grass. lively carbonation - fizzy, assertive earthy-spicy-grassy-herbal-peppery finish. over carbonation, carbonic acid and sweetness kills it. meh.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2014 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 3/23/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange, apple, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toast, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/grassy hops and moderate malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange, apple, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange, apple, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and solid complexity of citrus/earthy hops, bready malt, and light yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and some slight cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly prickly/sticky mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish. Overall this was a very solid English pale ale. Good balance and solid complexity of citrus/earthy hops, bready malt, and light yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

A little bit of a metallic aftertaste, but pretty good overall. A bit nutty as it warms up.
