Draft sample at MBGSF 10. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt, sour citrus and rye aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good beer.

Big hoppy beer with a good balance of roast, not overdone.Well malted for drinkability. Black bodied with some head. Not the best, a little weak on mouthfeel.

2011-11-12. Very dark brown, soft creamy beige head and lace. First sip is really strange. Soft sweet malt, fruity character, bit of sugar. Fruit that I can’t put my finger on. Caramel/brown sugar notes, hint of something that is not cherry but that’s the word I come up with. Mild aroma, fruit, mild dusty malt, ephemeral whispers of cocoa. I like it but it is not what I expected from a black IPA at all, and not particularly bitter. On tap at Ashley’s, Ann Arbor

Bottle. Pours black with off white head. Nose/taste of resin, pine, cocoa, chocolate malt and dank citrus. A bit chalky. Medium body. Finishes with lots of pine/resin.

Bottle split at Tony’s house, traded with one of the NJ/NY crew I think - notes fail me but cheers to whoever, 19/05/13. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears to the edge and leaves a small film. Nose is light on hops, roasty notes, bitter chocolate, dark toffee. Taste comprises hops, pine, cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation, dry finish with some hop bitterness. Decent enough CDA.

Sweet and raisiny aroma. Flavor is piney, not super hoppy, some dank, caramel.

12 oz bottle. (Macadoodles) Branson, MO.
Dark reddish brown almost black colour with a small tan head. Aroma: Nice bitterish hops with some darker malts. Flavour: Dry dark hops and mildly toasted malt. Tasty. A good one.
