Massive in every way, B-Craft delivers a complex bundle of flavors with citrus-hop aroma. Moving beyond the massive hop aroma, rich roasted malt flavors of coffee and chocolate move forward only to be checked by an impressive hop bitterness. Texture and flavor dance together so seamlessly that you may need to remind yourself that, while it drinks like a session, it delivers like an assassin.

A pleasant surprise! The aroma is well balanced. You can tell that the hops are there in force but the milk chocolate and coffee in the nose keep you grounded. Likewise, the flavor is quite well balanced and extremely complex for an IPA. Much controversy over Black IPAs, but this one does it right.

This comes off as more of a hoppy porter than a black IPA not that there is a huge difference between these two styles. Itís a lovely beer with a dark brown color and rich, long lasting head and lace in rings but, sadly, that is the only thing exceptionally good about it. I am getting chocolate and roast coffee up front in the nose w/ some floral and citrus hop tones around the edges. The taste is harshly bitter and ashy which goes a long way to cover up what is actually a really nice, creamy texture to it. There is really something rather off and metallic about this while it does have some very good qualities, it is also kind of unpleasant to actually drink. This makes for a below average beer in my opinion.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2015 Bottle from Lockeís Party Shoppe. Pours black with a modest beige head and a citrus aroma. There is a hearty treacle and citrus flavor with a bitter finish. An excellent example of black IPA.

Bottle from Oxford beer store. Pours black. Little head and thick body. Lots of hop and malt to balance it. Alcohol shines thru. Would do again but already had another before.

This one is super malty beer. Smells malty and has a very carbonated finish. Not the best beer I have had. Pours reddish brown in color with a cream head. Had at Arcadia. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Total Wine, Delaware 12oz: Pours murky brown with a beige head. Aroma is coffee, hints of chocolate, and a hop. Basically, I didnít get that much hop aroma, nor did I get much bitterness in the taste. I got instead a sort of bland, strong brown ale with this one. I donít think the bottle was too old as Total Wine has generally good turnover. I mean it wasnít bad, but I would barely call this a Black IPA.

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2014 Tap in snifter glass at Clark Street Ale House. Cask pour. Deep black with frothy, yet understated head. Aroma is coffee like with heavy roasted malts. Flavor also leans that direction with bitterness at the front and mild sweetness in the middle. Aftertaste reminiscent of coffee but more enjoyable than drinking that swill. I think it would be better as a traditional pour than a cask. Worthy of another sample.
