4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce wax capped bottle, 12/18/12 stamped on the bottle. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours a dark reddish/mahogany brown color with about a quarter inch tan head that didn’t stay around for too long. There’s also a small amount of lacing. The aroma is rich and malty, the brew smells like bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, oak, and a bit of booze. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some molasses and raisins. There’s also a surprising amount of bitterness in this brew, although the sweet malty flavors are stronger. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it’s slick and easy enough to drink for a 12% ABV brew. Moderate carbonation. I thought this was a good brew, hopefully I can pick up another bottle in the future. $7.99 a bottle.

Pours mahogany in color with very little head and no lacing or visible carbonation. Aroma of vanilla, cough syrup, bourbon, coke, and dark fruits. Taste is the same with additional Carmel and brown sugar. Wow. This is an outstanding and complex beer.

Bottle to snifter. 5/12/13. Pours deep brown with a fluffy, beige head. Aroma is cereal, breads, vanilla, caramel, fruit, oak, wood, alcohol. Taste is malty, fruity, sweet, acidic, caramel, bourbon, wood (oak), earth, vanilla, hint of leather; finish of citrus, fruit skin, dark fruit, dry vanilla. Alcohol is very well-hidden. Beautiful lacing. Chewy mouth feel. Medium carbonation. Excellent.

(Thanks Chris "Budznsudz")
A- Bourbon, chocolate, caramel, malty, oakey, sweet.
A- Dark red black color, dark liquid, off white head.
T- Bourbon, chocolate, cherries, red wine, caramel, vanilla.
P- Full body, sharp texture, mild carbonation, smooth finish with a slight bite.
O- My first barely wine. This one had been aged for over a year and a half. I think the aging definitely mellowed this one out. Wow, was this good. Reminded me of sipping on Jim Beam. The flavors blended extremely well and everything about this just screamed drink me.

Pour on tap at Crunchy’s, hazy dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of nice dark chocolate, dark fruit, rum soaked raisin, plum, oak, vanilla, nice bourbon as well. Taste was a mix of oak, bourbon, vanilla, slight dark fruit, toffee into some molasses, touch of spice, finishing slightly sweet.

Draft to snifter at Arcadia. Looks good; a mostly opaque brownish-black with beige lacing. Smells good too; sweet and boozy. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. Good stuff, and will definitely improve with age.

Very strong ale. Drink it from a snifter. Alcohol though out this one. Bourbon seems to increase the sharpness. Luckily it doesn't overpower it so you don't feel like your drinking a shot of bourbon.
