3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, some roasted malts, bourbon and oak, chocolate, light coffee, and some light spices. This is an imperial stout, but I feel like it has some of the attributes of a Belgian quad. Smooth texture. Could be better for what it is, but you know, they tried.

Bottle @ Chez Bruce. Deep brown with hardly any head. Huge forest fruits, bruised cherry and fig. Brown sugar sweetness. Chocolate.similar flavour. Sweet red fruits. Pretty syrupy, dark chocolates. Full body, oily. Actually not bad.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle share thanks to droopface. Nose of marshmallow and vanilla. Slightly tart with some astringency. Noticeable alcohol warning in the finish. Some cocoa and soft chocolate as well. Not too much booze. Some vanilla. Not too bad but tastes like a glorified homebrew.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a deep dark blackish color. Sweet aroma, some barrel and whiskey like notes, vanilla, almost a peanut/nutty character as well. Very sweet in the flavor as well, more of the sweet nutty almost to a point of being tart character. Alcohol is present. Not sure about this one.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2014 Bottle: Deep brown, not quite black with not much of a head at all, really only a thin, beige collar. Aroma has notes of whiskey, wet oak, borderline astringent, burnt cocoa notes, & a light molasses presence. Pretty potent smelling, really, but much smoother than I remember the BA Shipwreck being. Somewhat one-dimensional. Taste is kind of sharp with a surprisingly light body for a 12% ABV beer. Light, milky chocolate, raw whiskey underbody, light graininess, strong oak tannins that give off a finishing astringent bite. Not bad, but just kind of messy, & not too much going on. Not very complex relative to the style. Might be unfair, as this was enjoyed immediately after a vertical Bourbon County tasting.

Boozy. Warming alcohol...this one is hot. Molasses, plum, espresso. Little too syrupy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 2013 vintage release. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger moderately dense dark khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, light char, bourbon, oak, clove, vanilla, toffee, toast, raisin, and roasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and barrel notes; with solid strength. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, vanilla, oak, clove, bourbon, toast, coffee, light char, raisin, and roasted earthiness. Light earthy roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, vanilla, oak, clove, bourbon, toast, coffee, light char, raisin, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of malt and barrel flavors; with a great barrel presence that isn’t overpowering and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good; a bit thinner than expected. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good barrel aged imperial stout. Good balance and complexity of malt and barrel flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Black, cola hued edges, small frothy tannish head, spotty lacing. Bourbon and rich chocolate graham cracker on the nose. Also a little bit of roasted malts and vanilla. Smooth and sweet on the tongue, a little tangy even. Woody, bourbon, vanilla, graham cracker, but again not as sweet as others (similar to the Barrel Aged Cereal Killer). I guess it has a little bit more sweetness than BA Cereal Killer, but not by much. Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full. Finishes with a strong graham cracker, bourbon, vanilla, slight chocolate and coffee notes, as well as minor dark pitted fruit. Hides the 12% ABV pretty damn well! Thanks to Pailhead for the bottle!

12oz, red waxed bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Lots of oaky/woodiness. Aromas of wood, chocolate, and licorice. Tastes of wood, some dark fruits, coffee, roast, and chocolate. Smooth and hides the 12% very well.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle with red wax top - pours dark brown with light brown head. Nose is bourbon barrel. Flavor adds brown sugar, coffee, and milk chocolate. Bold flavor. Very sweet, but also bitter. A sipper. Roasty/smoky aftertaste. Wasn’t expecting this much bourbon.
