Wow. Pours a golden amber. Lots of malty toffee notes. Very floral aromas that come through on the flavor. This is a big beer. Hat at Goehner's octoberfest.

Bottle pour thanks to umich03jm. Pours a murky amber color with a thick, velvety head of beige foam. Aroma is toasty, like that of glazed pecans. Sweet. Taste is nutty with some soft prune sweetness floating in. Dry and sweet on the finish with a tingle of heat on the back of the throat.

12oz bottle, shared with Alicia. From Party Town. Totally hazy, red / brown color. Good thin beige head. Decent arcs of lace. Bigger body. Good, light crisp carbonation. Clean, kind of dry finish, just a lightly sticky body. Good big red candy - fruity aroma. Lightly spicy. Tropical fruity / spicy hop. Bigger bitter taste, little sweet. Hint of alcohol bite in the finish, not bothersome, though. Not the most complex, but a tasty and relatively easy drinking old ale

Tried the 2010 batch and it was delicious! Very flavorful! Nice and smooth. Dark brown color.

Thanks Mike. Burnt red appearance, 3 finger off-white head. Nice mocha and oak nose. Taste is sweet and a bit of cheddar. crisp finish, has a barleywine sort of bitterness. rasisins and cinnamon as well

Pours a slightly hazy amber brown with 1 finger head that quickly dissipates leaving minimal lacing. Caramel aroma with a hint of toasted malt. A touch boozy. Hops are pine and herbal hops. Mildly sweet with moderate bitterness. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Long bittersweet finish. I like this brew. Iím sorry it didnít get a better rating.

2010 bottle. Aroma & appearance are admittedly diminished by age, but the mellowing of the flavor more than makes up for the more vain characteristics. I ended up being very impressed by this beer; enjoying it immensely and finishing it far quicker than the style deserves. Fresh, sweet apple juice on the nose; a surprisingly appealing attribute. Faint, but it strongly implies the quality of the flavor. And, more importantly, the flavor doesnít let you down. Rich & full bodied but aromatic & smooth in a pointedly fruity (but not too sweet!) sort of way. Rarely can such a flavor profile be accomplished. Thank the lord for patience; this one proved the worth of aging.

broken out for the blizzard. Rust red and brown color. Hard to pin down due to the style but this is mostly malty with caramel and a lil touch of green fruit. Decent light carbonation that livens it up just a little. average.

1/24/13. Bottle. I enjoyed this more than most people I think. Pours a dark sort of off-red with a thin white head. Aroma is very crisp, very sharp, very fruity, earthy, sweet. Taste is likewise very crisp, much fruitier than I expected, sweet caramel, only a very little bitterness. Some small lacing. Medium-high carbonation. Chewy mouth feel. Billed as an old ale, this caught me pretty well off-guard. A lot more crisp and fruity than I am used to for the style. But for all that I didnít entirely agree with, it was still tasty and drinkable. I would drink another.

Bottle. Pours a murky copper color with a slight light tan head. Not a whole lot going on in the flavor, just a little caramel. Medium mouthfeel. The taste is ok but very muted. Slilght sweet start that trails off leaving only a slight bitter note. Itís not terrible but not great either.
