COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Dickís is a classic English-style Olde Ale. Sweet and full-bodied malt flavors are complemented by a fragrant but mild hop bitterness. Sweet, bready malt aromas combine with rich flavors of dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel, and sweet nuts. Truly a beer for the ages, Big Dickís Olde Ale matures gracefully in the cellar as fruity, estery flavors and mineral notes emerge while the hop bitterness gradually subsides. Delightful on its own or as a digestif with a hand-rolled cigar, Big Dickís is a delicious pairing for hearty good and cigars alike.

1/24/13. Bottle. I enjoyed this more than most people I think. Pours a dark sort of off-red with a thin white head. Aroma is very crisp, very sharp, very fruity, earthy, sweet. Taste is likewise very crisp, much fruitier than I expected, sweet caramel, only a very little bitterness. Some small lacing. Medium-high carbonation. Chewy mouth feel. Billed as an old ale, this caught me pretty well off-guard. A lot more crisp and fruity than I am used to for the style. But for all that I didnít entirely agree with, it was still tasty and drinkable. I would drink another.

Tap at brewery. Opaque dark red. Really nice foamy head and Belgian lace. Sweet, cereal grain nose. Nice sweet malt without being cloying tempered by a surprising dry hop presence. Well camouflaged ABV

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2015 Poured from the bottle of a four pack this is the 2010 vintage so weíre talking 5 year old beer. Dark brown with a lot of chunky foam. Taste is sweet malt and really boozy, maybe there were some hops used but I canít taste them because itís so sweet. Very strong like a barley wine. It says that this is 9% but I think the 5 years in the bottle has made it stronger. You probably wonít come across this in your travels but if you do be careful, itís English and itís rough. Not for the faint of heart.

Really malty and bitter flavored. Some caramel notes in this one. Bitter finish with some boozy notes. Pours brown in color with a thin tan head. Had at Arcadia ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Cloudy brown with small spongy beige head, no distinct aroma, caramel and roasted malt taste, thin body, medium carbonation, longish finish with alcohol aftertaste. Interesting but not spectacular

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Aroma of sweet caramel and malt. Dense, but clear, dark mahogany brown, Long-lasting 2" tan head, swirls of lace. Taste is toffee, malt, and alcohol, all competing to be tasted. Then, the addition of hops on the swallow. Big, strong brew, but I canít see how it fits the profile of Olde Ale. Good, not great.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/30/2013. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, cherry, apple, herbal, grass, light leather, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, cherry, apple, herbal, grass, light leather, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy herbal/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, raisin, plum, cherry, apple, herbal, grass, light leather, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice old ale style. All around good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle consumed multiple times from notes. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor had caramel/toffee malts, some fruitiness, some alcohol, hints of chocolate, mild to moderate bitterness. Medium body, smooth finish. Decent, but forgettable.

2009 vintage. Sweet and slightly oxidized, but not bad. Has some strong caramel and minimal amount of hops.
