3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 EtownEraser (63) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 20, 2006Bottle. Pours nicely with an off-white head. The color of the beer reminds me of the crappy coffe my ex-wife use to make. I’m sure you’ve had that weak ass cup of coffee that you can just about see to the bottom when poured. Anyway, the aroma is sweet with coffee/toffee in the nose. The beer tastes just like it smells. Not overly complex. Rather boring. There is some hops there, but not enough to counter the sweetness. Overall a little dissapointing

Tried the 2010 batch and it was delicious! Very flavorful! Nice and smooth. Dark brown color.

Thanks Mike. Burnt red appearance, 3 finger off-white head. Nice mocha and oak nose. Taste is sweet and a bit of cheddar. crisp finish, has a barleywine sort of bitterness. rasisins and cinnamon as well

Pours a slightly hazy amber brown with 1 finger head that quickly dissipates leaving minimal lacing. Caramel aroma with a hint of toasted malt. A touch boozy. Hops are pine and herbal hops. Mildly sweet with moderate bitterness. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Long bittersweet finish. I like this brew. I’m sorry it didn’t get a better rating.

2010 bottle. Aroma & appearance are admittedly diminished by age, but the mellowing of the flavor more than makes up for the more vain characteristics. I ended up being very impressed by this beer; enjoying it immensely and finishing it far quicker than the style deserves.
Fresh, sweet apple juice on the nose; a surprisingly appealing attribute. Faint, but it strongly implies the quality of the flavor. And, more importantly, the flavor doesn’t let you down. Rich & full bodied but aromatic & smooth in a pointedly fruity (but not too sweet!) sort of way. Rarely can such a flavor profile be accomplished. Thank the lord for patience; this one proved the worth of aging.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 TheGent (611) - , Massachusetts, USA - FEB 14, 2013
broken out for the blizzard. Rust red and brown color. Hard to pin down due to the style but this is mostly malty with caramel and a lil touch of green fruit. Decent light carbonation that livens it up just a little. average.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Chuckaduck (490) - Kentucky, USA - FEB 8, 2013
1/24/13. Bottle. I enjoyed this more than most people I think. Pours a dark sort of off-red with a thin white head. Aroma is very crisp, very sharp, very fruity, earthy, sweet. Taste is likewise very crisp, much fruitier than I expected, sweet caramel, only a very little bitterness. Some small lacing. Medium-high carbonation. Chewy mouth feel. Billed as an old ale, this caught me pretty well off-guard. A lot more crisp and fruity than I am used to for the style. But for all that I didn’t entirely agree with, it was still tasty and drinkable. I would drink another.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 kbutler1 (1259) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Bottle. Pours a murky copper color with a slight light tan head. Not a whole lot going on in the flavor, just a little caramel. Medium mouthfeel. The taste is ok but very muted. Slilght sweet start that trails off leaving only a slight bitter note. It’s not terrible but not great either.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 rubbishystuff (1564) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 31, 2012
From BandC. 2010 Vintage. Shame about the low rating this gets I thought it was lovely. Caramelly malt, moderately boozey, dried fruit flavors. Tends more quite drinkable to super complex. Serving: Bottle
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 thedm (4773) - Fort Wayne, USA - DEC 29, 2012
This bottled brew from rbsg #47 poured a medium sized head of foamy with a frothy top bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a hazy dark orange colored body. The aroma was old ale and musty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of old ale. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

Bottle to snifter. Looks solid; a murky orangish-brown with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes semi-sweet, malty, and a little hoppy with an average mouthfeel. Alright.
