Big Dick’s is a classic English-style Olde Ale. Sweet and full-bodied malt flavors are complemented by a fragrant but mild hop bitterness. Sweet, bready malt aromas combine with rich flavors of dark fruit, brown sugar, caramel, and sweet nuts. Truly a beer for the ages, Big Dick’s Olde Ale matures gracefully in the cellar as fruity, estery flavors and mineral notes emerge while the hop bitterness gradually subsides. Delightful on its own or as a digestif with a hand-rolled cigar, Big Dick’s is a delicious pairing for hearty good and cigars alike.

Dark amber to brown color; generous creamy head. The aroma, with caramel and chocolate, is quite dusty, a bit soapy. Good body strength and smooth mouthfeel; caramel flavor, moderate residual sweetness, light dust; correct bitterness, traces of liquorice. Strange; mild; easy.

Bottle. Orange/amber color, offwhite head. Malty, oily aroma, nutty and with some vanilla. Very strong peppery alcohol flavor. Sticky and the alcohol shows way too much...

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2010 Bomber from Oak Tree. Vintage 2006. Super cool!! Pours hazy ruddy amber/copper with a 4 finger foamy beige/tan head. Aroma of lots of roasted malt with hints of resiny (?) hop. Medium plus body with creamy/foamy carbonation. Flavor is lots of roast malt with herby/grassy hop. Resin? Citrus? Hmm. It’s very well balanced. No particular sign of heat. Develops a chocolate touch, but that’s very light. Gets complex as it warms. Age has not been bad for this guy. Really nice.
