Bottle from Capone’s. Pours dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, dark fruit, and alcohol. Flavor is bourbon, roasted malt, dark fruit, and coffee. Body is a bit lighter than I’d prefer.

Breakfast beer with Jale waiting in the rain for DLD gates to open. This was pretty bold but seriously not the whallop expected from the 12%. Kept us warm in the cold wind and rain that morning.

12oz bottle brought down from Andersons in Toledo by in-laws. Dark pour with thin tan head. Aroma is roasty, bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Tastes are bourbony alcohol, dark chocolate, earthy, licorice, burnt sugar and wood. Medium body and carbonation. Light bitter and dry finish. I’m not a big bourbon fan, but decent sipper for me.

Bottle with James, Andrew, and Maggi. Black pour with no head. Rich bourbon aroma with a dark molasses flavor. Very creamy palate sits well with the creaminess.

Bottle split with friends. Pours a deep brownish black body with chocolate lacing. Aroma is fresh hop, sweet chocolate, light vanilla. Mouthfeel is perfect, thick, with notes of chocolate, smoke, oak, bourbon, and a nice vanilla finish. This porter surprised me, and is one of the best I can remember.

Bottle at Papsø tasting. Dark red brown beer with a small light brown head. Aroma of sweet preserved dark fruits, oak, malt, peat. Flavor is sticky sweet, pruney, woody with a long lingering malty bitter, quite alcoholic finish. Quite heavy...

Bottle, waxed. Really a lot of what you would expect. Murky black with subtle head that is light brown and quickly recedes. Taste is bourbon, some chocolate. Good, greatish, but not a lot of complexity.
