Ungstrup (10417), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2007 Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of over ripe fruit, berries, and bourbon that sting in the nose. The flavor has notes of wood, bourbon, vegetables, on a slightly acidic back ground - probably from very hard roasted malt, which is what the finish is dominated by. The alcohol burns sligthtly in the mouth and warms up the cheeks. Papsoe (9242), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2007 (Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of markgugs. Pours a dark brown with a vague reddish hue and a beige head. Lightly tart aroma with bourbon notes showing. Medium body, lots of roasted malt and sweet vanilla. Dried fruit and weak touches of bourbon before a subdued bitterness. If this was infected - which I don’t really believe - then it was in a most spectacular way! 070907 sk8viking (5995), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 11, 2007 Bottle. A almost black beer with a big beige head. The aroma is light acid, vanilla and light bourbon, the taste is sweet light acid vanilla bourbon and chocolate. Medium body with a light alcoholic finish. argo0 (5860), Washington DC, USA Jun 20, 2006 (22oz bottle) Small tan head atop a black-cola body. Aroma is moderately sweet, alcohol/bourbon, vanilla. Taste is moderately sweet, alcohol/bourbon, light nut, alcohol warming. The bourbon characteristics were harsh and overpowering, leaving little of the underlying beer. They also seemed like they came from inferior bourbon. Light-medium body. joergen (5805), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 11, 2007 Bottle.
