3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jodah52 (210) - Michigan, USA - JUL 2, 2010
Draft at Graydon’s Crossing. Pours medium amber, clear. Taste is a bit sweet, nice hint of hop bitterness. Complemented excellently by a full red ale aroma - musky malt, a bit sour, with robust berry flavor in the background. Recommended, if you can find it.

Enjoyed on tap at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago, IL prior to going to a Blackhawks game with a bunch of friends. Appearance not too sure, in a dark bar but it looks red with a thin but pronounced off white head. Aroma rich in hops with a nice malt balance. Taste very smooth, abundant in stinky hops, also a bit of citrus with a rich malt backing. Real nice.

On cask at In Fine Spirits Chicago. It was good. Bit of sweetness and a nice amount of hops for a red ale. Serving: Cask

Draft Sample at MBG Winterfest 2010. Poured reddish brown with an average frothy off-white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet bitter flavor with a sweet finish of moderate duration. This beer would go well with spicy food.

On tap at Pizza House, East Lansing. Deep orange-brown body, thin creamy off-white head. Light, floral, spicy nose. Soapy, floral hops body with notes of bubblegum and toasty malts, with modest brown sugar and caramel malt balance. Bitter finish. Merely OK.

Pretty standard red ale here. Arcadia is very much hit or miss for me. I would take this over a Sam Adams, but that is about it.

On cask at Arcadia made with Cascade instead of usual Chinook. Pours amber with nice lacy head. Light hop aroma comes through and drinks well. Nice session-able red

Some toasted malt with background bread. Some earthy, floral hops and slight bitterness. Tame, but fairly to style.

Poured a clear red with no head. Not much of an aroma. Mouth feel is rather light. Tastes a bit sweet with a large amount of hops for the style. I get toasted malts and some burnt grains. I think it is the hops that are just a bit off.
