Aroma is sweet, bland. Light chocolate scent, no molasses hinted. Appearance is typical, almost no head. Taste is not really a stout, heavy molasses but I canít find chocolate. Pretty disappointing. The mouthfeel is nice, creamy and smooth.

Bottled 12/04/13. Poured 3/18/14. $2.69 or something like that for a single bottle. A bit expensive for an Arcadia beer, but Iíve been craving a lot of stouts recently. Appearance: A black color with some ruby on the edges. There appears to be a lot of floaters in there as well, but that may be from the Too Cream Stout from Dark Horse that I just had. Not much of a head at all, and only a thin layer of foam on top of the beer. Smell: Am I the only one disappointed? Truthfully, this smells like a Shock Top attempt at a stout or something. I get a lot of graininess as opposed to roastiness. The minor bit of a cocoa note that I get pushes the rating up just a tick, but really, this is a quite underwhelming smelling beer. I think the molasses that this beer is brewed with is contributing to that grainy smell over the roastiness. Taste/feel: Like the smell. Man, quite disappointing. It has a cheap grainy flavor to it quite a bit through. With the molasses and grain -- call me crazy -- it has an underlying flavor of caramel popcorn. The molasses sweetness comes off as the kind of sweetness youíd find in a cheap amber, as it tastes artificial and it doesnít exactly add anything positive. Cocoa? I honestly canít say I pick up a specific chocolate flavor. It tastes like a stout loaded with molasses, which again, comes off as artificial tasting. The aftertaste gives a bit of roastiness, but again, it doesnít specifically taste like chocolate to me. The feel is medium/slick with a mild/moderate carbonation. Not impressed. Would be a recommended buy at $2, but at $2.69, Iíd say pass. Rather than compliment, the molasses seems to dominate. Not in that this is an overwhelmingly sweet beer (though it is quite sweet), but in that the flavor of it with the cheap grainy vibe I pick up is just not something worth $2.69 a pop. Cocoa Loco is a pretty good beer, but after having Too Cream Stout, this beer just isnít doing it for me.

Hmm. Just not the stout I had hoped for. Very flat and bland tasting. Not rich or creamy. Can't detect pretty much any cocoa on the nose or palate. Drinks more like a pale ale than a stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle). Metallic or tinny aroma with no cocoa or sweetness. Appearance is deep brown with quickly dissipating head. The flavor is lacking cocoa, well roasted and slightly bitter. Now labeled as simply Cocoa Loco with new artwork on label. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Chocolate aroma and taste as indicated by the name. Not much else to it tho. Mediocre at best.

Bottle. Lots of chocolate. Although I figured there would have been more of it. Not very loco. Roast malts and hop notes kind of come through but you really have to look.

1/24/14. $3.89 bottle @ CBO. First of 2 beers drank that night (nugget nectar the other. Never drank 2 there before). What a HUGE disappoint!! $3.89 seemed high for a beer that was as bland as this one was. Not much nose. Not much head. Not a whole lot of taste. Over priced and overly MEH ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft sampler at brewpub, dark brown nearly black pour. Roasted malts on the nose. Taste is roasted dark malt and chocolate, pretty decent.

Decent stout. Not much aroma on the nose. Palate of dark choc, oak. Very thin on the pallate. Pours a deep deep black with almost non existent thin head. Draft at brewery.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/26/2013. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, biscuit, molasses, raisin, light coffee, light anise, light cream, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Ok aromas with solid balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and cocoa/molasses notes; with decent strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, biscuit, molasses, raisin, light coffee, light cream, light anise, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, molasses, roasted malt, toast, biscuit, raisin, light anise, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and complexity of bready/roasted malt and cocoa/molasses flavors; with good robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a solid stout. Solid robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt and cocoa/molasses flavors; and very smooth to drink. A fairly enjoyable offering.
