NJBeerman013 (579), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Aug 11, 2007 Draft. This stout is intense. Pours a deep midnight black. The sweet maltiness is huge. There is no denying that this is a chocolate stout. It’s so insane, I don’t know how to best sum it up in words. I think this beer deserves further research. {insert evil laughter} BDR (1864), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Feb 14, 2007 Updated: Feb 26, 2007A nice cocoa aroma on this jet black beer. The body is the same but with a roasted characteristic to it. A big gulp revealed the molasses in one of the best stouts I’ve tried in a while. StFun (289), Indiana, USA Jul 9, 2008 Very nice stout, and BIG thanks to GMCC2181 for sending this one to me. I’ve been wanting to try this for awhile, and am glad I got the chance. This one reminded me a lot of Sexual Chocolate, just toned down on all fronts (but a lot easier to find!). Aroma is chocolate milk and raw cocoa beans. Pours a delicious deep brown and with a nice tan head. Flavor doesn’t quite match up to the aroma, but still brings the flavor. Pretty strong for 7%, the alcohol is very apparent here, but never gets boozy. Nice malty backbone, with roasted barley and chocolate taking strong supporting roles. Notes of hops, which adds a bitter aspect to this one that I didn’t really dig, but it didn’t ruin the beer. Didn’t pack the chocolate punch that I was looking for, but *man* this one would be killer if they amped everything up a notch. Will have again for sure, thanks again for hooking me up Gabe!! whaleman (2168), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 21, 2007 Deep brown-burgundy body with a lasting tan head. Very nice chocolate-caramel, molasses and black currant aromas. Sweet and decadent, but has a level balance of acid, alcohol, roast, and hop bitterness. Has some savory mushroom qualities as well. This owes homage to Bells Special Double Cream Stout, but is very distinct too. Complex sweet stouts are a weakness of mine. I could eat this one for breakfast.
