Pour on tap at Old Chicago, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of caramel, vanilla, toffee, some hints of dark cocoa into a bit of barrel, oak in there as well. Taste was dark cocoa, sweet vanilla, caramel, some sweet oaky barrel notes, finishing fairly sweet, no real sign of booze in there.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a black color with a small foamy off white head that faded and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty with notes of molasses, rum and a touch of smoke. The flavor was bourbon, molasses, tobacco, wood, anise and vague fruity hops. Long finish. Moderately full bodied though a bit undercarbonated. The alcohol was fairly well contained. Interesting.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to taster at Arcadia in Kalamazoo. Per the menu, this is a barrel-aged imperial brown ale. Looks good; a translucent cola with foamy beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; nutty, oaky, and boozy. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Some vanilla too. Not bad, but lacks complexity.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown cola-like pour with thin beige head. Really great sweet bourbon and brandy scent, dar fruits and molasses. Strong flavor, robust peaty malts throughout, tons of dark fruits, carmel, vanilla, lighter and sweeter than a BBA imperial stout. Really smokey and full bodied with great amount of bourbon.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
5 oz sample on draft. Pours deep ruby almost black with a thin mocha ring of head that leaves a wall of lace. Nose involves caramel, molasses, plenty of bourbon, chocolate, nuts, and some vinous grape notes. Very sweet, lightly tart, fairly bitter. Thick bodied, syrupy, oily, low carb, tingly and warm with alc, with a long whiskey finish. Very bourbon forward, but I found it to be pretty tasty, though in a small dose. Typical brown ale elements do peek through the large bourbon presence.
