dchmela (1411), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 24, 2008 Thanks to Polomagnifico for this. Pours a slightly honey orange amber with a thin off white head. Nice grapefruit juice, floral, and pine aroma, very nice focus on the hops. Taste is big hop BITE, with lots of grapefruit dryness and a little bit of malt. The bitter bang that starts it off mellow a bit in the finish, but there is a good amount of bitterness there just in case you forgot about it. A very tasty hop bomb and, dare I say, quite drinkable as there enough malt to keep it from being too bitter. Very nice. nefarious (202), Clarkston, Michigan, USA Jun 16, 2008 typical orange medium head Impy IPA pour. Same with the aroma: citrus fruits and pine. Floral, citrus and a slight raison flavor with a bitter hop bite at the end with a nice finish. The mouthfeel is a touch thin. But not bad kinda run of the mill for this style, but dbl IPAs are one of my faves so its good. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Jun 14, 2008 Light hop aroma compared to the taste. Very hazy orange color with a small white head. Bitter beginning with a mix of citrus and floral hops finishing with a sweet hop taste. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Jun 12, 2008 Nice redish apperance! Hops are fairly subdued in the aroma. Lots of sweet malt and orange on the pallate. I thought the hops got overpowered by the malt, and it turned into the somewhat typical, overally sweet DIPA that I have really come to dislike. A lot more sweet then I want my DIPA’s, especially with a name like Hop Rocket. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Jun 7, 2008 Poured an almost clear gold with an off-white head. The aroma is full of citrus and floral notes. Sweet fruity malt base. Grapefruit citrus flavor with some mild candy notes. Light bitter finish. Nice warmth with a medium body. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 6, 2008 My bottle (12oz) shared with HogTownHarry -- courtesy of Thaichile. Pours a hazy orange-amber with an average size frothy off-white head. Big hop medley aroma (resiny, piney, citrusy and floral) backed by caramel malt. Flavour follows the aroma: Piney, resiny, citrusy hops (and more!) backed by caramel malt along with some tropical fruit and ends with a long bitter finish. Alcohol’s well hidden. Medium bodied, sticky mouthfeel. Quite nice, a very tasty DIPA! ketchepillar (476), Viña del Mar, Chile Jun 4, 2008 Something in the aroma I can’t pinpoint. Some mix with the pine and nutty, toasted malt. It’s not a great undefined flavor. Almost a little sour. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 4, 2008 Courtesy of CigarCityBrew. Pours deep clear gold with off white head. The aroma is a tropical mixture of grapefruit, sweet tangelo, mango and layer of sweet malts. Smells a bit different to me for the style with a sort of tropical influence but it works. The taste must have lots of late addition hops due to the sweet hop flavor over the level of hop bitterness as noticed in the nose. I also get some mild alcohol notes going along with sweet sweet maltiness.
