Malty/hoppy aroma carries some spicy/herbal notes. Sharp hoppy taste with sweet/fruity notes. Alcohol is well hidden. Ends with a long, robust, bitter finish. Beerman6686 (1266), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 8, 2009 This one poured a lighter ruby red color with a smaller off white head. Aroma was pungant and spicey hops, a bit citrusy as well. Flavor was also dank spical herbal hops, a bit piney and strange fruit flavors as well. A very different and good IIPA jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 8, 2009 2009-06-05. Crisp orange amber body with a small white head. (3+) Really interesting, pleasant hoppy aroma up front. Sort of a fruity character to the hops that is not quite citrus, which carries over into the flavour as well. Pleasant bitterness throughout. Interesting fruit notes (akin to lychee) with a pleasant bitterness throughout that lingers. Average palate. Pleasant, interesting hops! Poured amber in color with a small, white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. Good lacing. Flavor is heavily bitter. Tastes of hops, pine, spruce, resin, hop juice, slight grass, and slight toasted malts. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Bitter hop finish is lightly dry. No hint of 9%ABV. Kinda like sucking on hon some hops. obxdude10 (1547), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA May 29, 2009 This is an excellent offering of a double IPA from Arcadia. The beer pours a light amber color with a huge white head. The head leaves an abundance of lacing around the glass. The nose is full of hops, pine, grapefruit and bread. The body is strong, but smooth and enjoyable. The flavors are spicy, hoppy, well-balanced and delicious, with notes of grass, grapefruit, bread, pine and a hint of a floral character. The finish is spicy, dry and hoppy. This double IPA had quite the malt backbone for balance and ultimate enjoyment. This is certainly one of the better double IPAs out there.
