COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first in our Brew Crew Big Beer Series, Arcadia Hopmouth Double IPA should be finding its way to a store near you. Huge Maris Otter malt and a generous amount of fresh hops combine to make this extremely balanced ale remarkable.

Bottle. Sweet nose of delicious citrussy hops, traditional PNW but edging tropical and with a doughy caramel bite. Very juicy! Copper-to-dark brown gradient pour with a tan head. Medium-strong bitterness, medium sweetness that doesnít much go away, alcohol builds and builds until it hits you in the forehead like an ice cream headache. Malt is light but clean and crisp with a crackery bite. Medium body, flights of citrus, a little flattish and reminiscent of tea (pairing especially well with the lemony hops), but fresh. Low-lying earth and dark toffee/caramel. A bit of a non-traditional IIPA, but I like it more than most of those, anyway.

On draft. A darker amber with some lacing. Very happy overall as expected for a double IPA. Bitter throughout in taste.

funded by the $20 I found on the street series: 12oz bottle (8% ABV) - pours deep amber with small khaki head and trace lacing though I had to swirl the glass around to create the head. Nose is citrus and pine/resin. Flavor adds grassy qualities. Hoppy in the mouth but once swallowed, the hop goes away. Wet. Intriguing, but Iím not finding many answers with every sip. The only answer I have is that this beer is only good if itís in your mouth; once swallowed, the taste and flavor hides. A hearty burp though, revives the taste and flavor! I think that this beer would be better if it had a longer lasting finish.

4 aug 2013, bottle. Brown and a tad murky. Nose is oatmeal cookie malt and pine hops. Med/thin body and moderately fizzy. Smooth light caramel malt with background pine hops and some cotton candy. Interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy iced tea color with a small head and good lacing. Big malt aroma with grassy hops and a bit of tangerine. Toasted malt flavor like bread crust first then a floral bitterness with a bit of astringency. Finishes dry with cracker malt and a grassy/piney flavor that lightly sits on the tongue. Medium/high carbonation with a lightly syrupy mouthfeel and medium/full bodied. A balanced DIPA with a lot of flavor.

A darker brown pour for an IPA. A half finger off white/cream color head. A light scent of grassy, malty, a light bit of citrus. Starts with a salty like spice bitter, that gives way to a slight sweet in the middle something akin to orange and honey. Finishes with a lot of malt, cracker/biscuit. Pretty good balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2013 bottle to a Dogfish Head IPA glass. Color is a hazy light amber and orange with a good sized off- white head. Decent lacing. Smell is a lightly sweet and toasty malt with caramel and tangerine. Hops is detectable but not prominent and there is a faint sourness. Taste starts off with the malt predominant, giving way to a little hops bitterness and then a little sourness and astringency at the end. The taste as a whole is very balanced, as Arcadia proclaims, and I agree with others that have commented that this is more like an IPA than a DIPA. Style aside, this is a very enjoyable beer that goes down easy and was a definite compliment to a warm summer evening. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

EtTuCthulhu (1077) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - JUN 9, 2013
This beer, once poured, is a copper color with a small off-white and bubbly head, and the aroma is quite boozy with hints of earthy yeast and grass hops. The taste is quite bitter and mildly sour, which is surprisingly balanced and thus pleasant, and the palate combines an average carbonation, slick texture, medium body, and a long astringent finish.

Pours a cloudy amber with a one finger head that lingers leaving a moderate/heavy lacing. Hops of resin and pine with some grapfruit. Toasted and slightly roasted malt and a hint of caramel. Slightly sweet with moderate to heavy bitterness. Well balanced. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Long bitter finish. This was very good!
