The first in our Brew Crew Big Beer Series, Arcadia Hopmouth Double IPA should be finding its way to a store near you. Huge Maris Otter malt and a generous amount of fresh hops combine to make this extremely balanced ale remarkable.

Very nice beer. Pours a dark orange with a small lasting head. Excellent hop taste thats a combination of oranges and possibly wood. Not super bitter but with enough hop kick that its for sure a double IPA. Lasting finish is nice and smooth, well balanced and the abv is well hidden. Very drinkable DIPA

12 oz bottle pours an almost clear copper with fair beige head and lots of lacing. This is not at all what I expected from an IIPA, which is a favorite style of mine. Aroma is full of wood, caramel and nuts, not hops, with an aftertaste of almonds and formaldehyde. Yes, the piney resinous hops are present, but not dominant. Body is medium without too much carbonation. Very good in its own way, but I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn’t advertised as a hoppy double IPA.

Bottle thanks to khoffman43! Hazy dirty orange pour, soapy lasting head and an aroma of herbal bitter oranges. Flavor starts out with a nice meld of a rich malty base, dry bitter and woody hops and finished extremely dry. Nice beer and I’d definitely pick this up if available locally.

Bottle from Spirits Bayville. Pours out a ruby/darker copper color with a nice off white head. Aroma is of grapefruit, light pine, slight bready malts in the background. Taste is of white grapefruit, citrus notes, light pine, resinous hop oil, light doughy malts and some alcohol that starts to creep in slightly on the finish.

This is a nice IPA. Fresh hoped instead of dry gives it a nice aroma and the bitterness you look for in a IPA. It has a smooth finish that makes it easy to drink.Low apv. for a double IPA but still very well crafted. Two thumbs up. Drink if you love IPA’s you won’t be disappointed.

At Maproom from the beer engine. I’d need to taste the non-cask version but I really enjoyed this. Very smooth. Off orange and cloudy the hops were prominent but more herbal. Serving: Cask

A bit of an older bottle poured into a three floyds teku glass. Pours a cloudy burnt orange copper with a finger length off white head and nice lacing. Aroma is subdued as I expected with the bottles age. Pine, grapefruit, and quite a bit of malt. Flavor is pine, caramel, bread, and malts. Alcohol is there too. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat sticky. I’m sure the 8 month age of this bottle has affected the flavor. Sort of meh.

Cask pour into a tulip at Map Room in Chicago. Brown color with a light and airy beige head. Aroma of citrus and Earthy hops settled into a wet carpet. Hoppy and toasty taste. Brown ale is the representative style with big hops up front followed by a medium roasty malt backbone. Very hoppy and slightly boozy. Decent mouthfeel and flavorful. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Beautiful dark amber color right from the pour, the bitterness is evident but not overpowering like in some doubles. The aroma offers a slight toasted scent, very good double ipa one of my favorites
