hellomynameis (743), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 12, 2008 Hazy dark orange with a large fine foam head. Aroma of grassey hops and some sweet malts. Full in the mouth but
not thick and syrupy. Fairly malty up front, kind of biscuty/doughy/bready. Flavour finishes out with a light citrus hop note, kind of grapefruity but still packs some bitterness, though not much.
omhper (10454), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 2, 2008 Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear amber, small but firm head. Striking lychee aroma with a twist of lemon. Medium sweet with compact full body and somewhat clean mouthfeel. The initial lychee like hoppiness changes to pine needles over soap and perfume and gives a powerful bitterness. maniac4016 (106), exterminate, Iran Sep 1, 2008 pours amber with medium white head.nose is hoppy & citrus. hops are assertive on palate, nice clean finish stoutlover72 (1325), NorCal, California, USA Aug 30, 2008 First, thanks to mmmm///beer for sending this my way. After enjoying a bottle of Green Flash’s IIPA, this was obvously a stark contrast in the difference in brewing styles for the same type of beer.
The beer pours out a medium-dark amber color, slightly hazy with a three-finger thick creamy off-white head. The aroma has a nice floral hop aroma, some light flesh fruit (apricot came to mind), with some subtle grass notes.
The flavor was suprisingly sweet, especially just after enjoying the Green Flash. Quite the difference. Sweet was the main flavor, with hops playing second fiddle, and that’s just wrong for an IIPA. Still, it was a nice beer. Malt action abounds, with some floral and citrusy hops showing some character, but just not enough. Nice beer though. jgentgesdo (536), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 28, 2008 Pours amber with a medium off-white head. Nose is grassy/flowery hops and a sweet, almost honeyed malt flavor. Flavor is well balanced floral hops and malt, very malty, even intensely malty. There is a citrus undercurrent that comes more to the fore towards the aftertaste. Alcohol is well hidden. Very strong hops flavor, but subdued bitterness. Pretty good. Svesse (1700), Hässelby, Sweden Aug 26, 2008 (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm) Dark amber colour with lasting, beige head. Fruity, hoppy nose with orange peel and black-currant. Fruity, malty taste with notes of orange peel and black-currant. Grapefruit and resin in the finish. Solid malt foundation gives it a very good balance. Very nice beer.
