COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first in our Brew Crew Big Beer Series, Arcadia Hopmouth Double IPA should be finding its way to a store near you. Huge Maris Otter malt and a generous amount of fresh hops combine to make this extremely balanced ale remarkable.

This is a very nice, very homebrew-like dbl. IPA that is very similar in spirit to Steelhead’s excellent double. The aroma could be more pronounced, but hints of grapefruit and alcohol hit you upon a deep sniff. Lacing is weaker than you’d expect, but by no means bad. The beer pours a hazy, dark copper-amber, much like an excellent homebrewed IPA, a characteristic that, in a very good way, is reflected in the taste of this beer as well. It’s not hoppy like a Stone or a Double Trouble but, believe me, the brits would find this quite the hoppy beer. By American standards, it’s a more malty IPA. Personally, I believe this and the Steelhead are the only examples of this very homemade and natural style of IPA available commercially and I am a fan. One sip and you’ll know whether this is for you. It’s very different than what most expect from a ’big, American IPA.’ Different in a good way. Cheers!

from notes: Tap. A blast of floral hops on initial sniff. The hops are good, but what is even better is the malts. More balanced than most imperial DIPA’s. Alcohol is hidden but present... well executed. Would drink again.

Very cloudy, murky brown pour with a little head. Looks like muddy water, kinda weird. Aroma is faint but nice. Floral and piney, a little malt too. Taste is pretty smooth. Nice malt backbone with very floral heavy hops. A little oily too. Slight alcohol burn at the finish and a nice aftertaste. I like it.

Pours deep amber, a touch or opacity. The head is a off white and a good size. Aroma is caramelly sweet hops. a touch of grape fruit, a touch of pine. Good bodied beer. Not overly heavy ... and not too light. A good medium for the sharp hop and the high alcohol. That touch of pine and grapefruit start you off before the sweetness of the hops take over. The finish is not quick.... but not what I would call lingering either. I like it.

Amber color. Had to work to get a head that vanished quickly. Has a light caramel taste to it but still very bitter. Nice solid beer for 2.50 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy reddish gold that eventually clears out after sitting. Aroma is high on caramel and toffee notes. The strength of this beer comes through a little in the aroma. Taste is very malty in the front followed by a peppery hop presence that, while bitter, ends up blending with the malt to leave a pleasant toffee flavor. Nicely balanced, and interesting for an IPA.

Sweet, earthy hop aroma. Golden in color with a tan-white head. Malty sweetness with great hop finish.

"Bottle: 2/22/2011" not a fan of this dipa. has a sour character from overroasted malt or something. bitter but not much fresh hop character. it was an old bottle though.

Not what I expected but not bad. Light hops for an IPA. Aroma is sweet, light brown in color. Taste is more malt than hop... wonder if the bottle was miss labeled. Overall not bad, but not like a normal IPA.

Pours a light copper color with a healthy, thick head. Oily and oddly bittered which forces the malt taste to disappear, hard to do with a double. I won’t be having another.
