Appearance: pours as ruby black-brown ale. Light almost nonexistent beige brown top. Low carbonation. 2+ Nose: soy sauce, dark plum and prunes, brown malt, caramel with roasted barley, hit of vanilla. Flavor/Palate : full bodied. Proper malt work, solid, fulfilling and satisfying. Mild yet well proposed bitterness of dark roasted barley. Slight dryness of alcohol. Solid craft presented.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 1, 2009 A 12 oz. 07 bottle from Lunar Brewing Co. The pour was black/brown and like thin oil, with a brownish tan head that reduced to a bubbly layer and left a small ring and a few spots on the glass as the beer disappeared. The aroma was very roasty, with molasses sweetness, wood, a little bacon, and a touch of leather. The flavor added some smoke, good alcohol presence, and a lasting bitter/dryness. Very tasty and cellared well. AskForJenny (641), Ontario, New York, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2009 12oz bottle from Once Upon a Vine, Richmond. Nice thick pour, with visible yeast, and a miniscule cappucino colored head. Mild roasts in an aroma more dominated by dark fruits and a slight vinous quality. Thick mouthfeel and big chocolate flavors leading to a kind of Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar impression. Finish is slightly dry. Not bad.
