Mar 24, 2008 Pretty good stuff. Taste is pretty sweet with an really clean palate. I like this brew better than some other highly rated imperial stouts, the only drawback are all the huge chunks in this particular bottle. I’m not a fan of that, but the beer does taste great!

Mar 20, 2008 Big thanks to Dough77 for the hookup. Poured black with a tiny brown head. Strong, vinous aroma. Delicious flavor, though a bit thinner than some other impy’s that I’ve had. Bitter, dark chocolate and coffee notes from the roasted malts. Sweet and smooth. I like that it’s only 8.4%, no trace of the alcohol at all.

Mar 13, 2008 pours black, slight tan head with a bit of lacing. roasty, sweet ,alcoholic aroma. creamy chocolate and coffee flavors, with a certian bitterness. finish is smooth and creamy. the slight bitterness overcomes the chocolatey sweetness to raise the rating on this beer a point or 2.

Opaque black color with big creamy expresso head. Toasted aroma with some vanilla/fudge -notes. Very coffeish flavor - creamy palate with full body. Kind of vanilla notes in flavor too. Sweetish impy, but a good one.

Mar 11, 2008 No pour(drank from bottle,warm) Pitch black with aromas of coffee,chocolate,and malt. Flavors of malt,plums,and chocolate. I need to try this one cold and re-rate it soon. Not a bad beer at all though.

Mar 3, 2008 2006 bottle. Pours a dark brown with almost no head. Aroma of roasted sweet malts and light alcohol scent. Flavor of molasses and sweet roasted malts, but no alcohol in the flavor. Did a side by side with an 02 that tasted like teriyaki sauce. Way past its prime.

Mar 1, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Oak Tree. Pours a thick solid black with a slight film of mocha colored head. Musty aroma of dark fruit, coffee and dry chocolate powder. Full bodied with soft carbonation and hardly any noticable alcohol. Flavor is sweet like an alcoholic dark cherry in a chocolate shell. The hop bitterness melds with the malts to make this one seem burnt. The only thing I can say about this beer is meh....

Feb 18, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry (2005 vintage drank in 2008): Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium size light brown foamy head with good retention but no lacing. Aroma of vanilla and raisins with some vinous notes is really interesting. Taste is a complex mix between some sweet malt, vanilla, some dry raisins with some interesting vinous notes. Full body with some great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Definitely more complex then I was expecting and very well balance overall.
