Commercial Description:
Black as coal in color, this bottle conditioned Stout has a velvety rich and sweet malt aroma. After pouring, a dense brown head gives way to a big, full-bodied and creamy texture that has flavors of roasted coffee and black currants, blending perfectly with the malt. A generous amount of hops add balance and complexity to this extraordinary stout that will continue to improve with age. A worthy beer to cellar and enjoy throughout the year.

Smell and taste of chocolate covered cherries, if the cherries could over-power the coffee flavoring. Very nice and refreshing stout with some nice tones of flavor.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Completely opaque black with a light brown head. Aroma of dried and overripe fruit as well as some alcohol. Rather full-bodied with lots of sweetish, roasted malt and accents of raisins in rum. Some bitterness in the finish. A nice one. 150807

Black color. The aroma is mild, with soft roasted malt, coffee, milky, vanilla. Good body structure in the front, getting drier later; the flavor is a quite good mix of caramel, malt, with a touch of sweet liquorice coffee and vanilla. Good.

Bottle. Near black pour with a small head. Aroma was coffee and dust. Dark fruits and liquorice in the taste. Very high hop profile. Near full body and a chalky texture.

2006 bottle. Dark, blackish color with a small tan head. Aroma has some chocolate, cream, coffee and interesting sweet-roasted malts. Taste has some dark chocolate, coffee, cream, and licorice thrown in. Interesting Impy stout, but it falls short of the "upper level" in the style. Will try again after some aging.

12oz bottle, 2005 vintage. Pours a pitch-black center with minimal light at the edges. Fluffy, medium-tan head with good retention and lacing. Dense, dark chocolate and nougat in the aroma; layered sweetness, with no show of alcohol. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: milk chocolate and chewy, roasted malts, with an oily, nutty character throughout; light carbonation, with any show of hops well-integrated at this point; a well-done imperial stout (dense, flavorful, well-integrated), that relies mostly on its chocolate notes. Lengthy, dry chocolate and cocoa at the finish; ends with only the slightest bit of dryness.
