| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2007 No head. The aroma is incredibly pungent like rotten plums. Taste is a little thin and all that it gives me is a big sweetness at the end. Not much else going on here. Appreciate the chance to try it though. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2007 Pours a pitch black color with a tan head. Has hints of roasted malts, coffee, and cocoa. This is a thin beer. Would be better if it was a little thicker. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 24, 2007 12 oz. bottle courtesy of TURDFERGUSON - thanks! Pours a very dark brown to black color with a small brown head. It has a very chocolatey aroma but there’s definitely some hops there as well. The flavor starts out fairly sweet and you notice the coffee, chocolate, and dried, dark fruits. Then the bitterness of this well hopped beer kicks in for a dry finish. Very good overall. 5th beer in an attempt to rate 365 beers over the next year!
Thursday May 24th 2007—sidebar if I skip a day I have two the next but keep the date as if day-to-day. Or if two in one day, the date might be a day ahead, as such here.
12oz bottle from Red White & Brew poured into Guinness Glass
Poured a heavy black with limited head for a stout. Roasted malts with a sweet aroma hits the nose. The taste is also somewhat sweet with a slight nut hint. This is a beer that defiantly gets better as it warms the laste sip was at room temp and was the best of the tasting! There are certainly better Imperial Stouts out there: Storm King, Stone to name a few but at $5.49 a four-pack I would have to give this the “Best Buy” monikor!
Will be trying to go by season and style when possible, with special cellared ales on special occasions.
Look for the next 360 beers and for the entire diary on my BeerMagnets website!

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2007 This stout pours a deep, rich chocolate color with a small brown head. Flavor of chocolate and smokey wood are the most abundant. Strong alcohol is well hidden by the intense flavors. Also hints of molasses and vanilla. Very tasty and enjoyable. dra19 (89), Zeeland, Michigan, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2007 From a 12 oz. bottle with an unnotched bottling freshness date along the right side of the label, 2006 vintage in the lower left, put in the refrigerator for an hour, sampled in my traveling snifter glass.
Poured a syrupy looking dark blackish brown with a small foamy, creamy light brown head that slowly settled into a thin sudsy lacing.
A good roasted malty, estery nose, coffee with cream, chocolate, sweet smoky molasses and earthy.
Good moderate carbonation and a crisp, dryish, slick, creamy smooth full bodied mouthfeel.
Smooth sipping RIS taste, an earthy nuttiness, roasted maltiness, coffee, chocolate, soy, charcoal and molasses, some herbal leafiness and lightly citric hoppy with a soft bitterness, purple plums and prune fruity, the alcohol is barely noticeable, has an estery nature, provides a low temperature warmth in the palate and a dry, softly roasted malt bitter finish.
I love the Nut Brown from Arcadia, well o.k., I like how they do English style beers in general, but this is slowly becoming my favorite of their brews, if you like Russian Imperial Stouts, then this is something you need to try. It’s nowhere near Dark Lord, but still it is pretty tasty and balanced.
