Commercial Description:
Black as coal in color, this bottle conditioned Stout has a velvety rich and sweet malt aroma. After pouring, a dense brown head gives way to a big, full-bodied and creamy texture that has flavors of roasted coffee and black currants, blending perfectly with the malt. A generous amount of hops add balance and complexity to this extraordinary stout that will continue to improve with age. A worthy beer to cellar and enjoy throughout the year.

pours muddy black with a small frothy brown head. Aroma is heavy malts, roasted dark chocolate and strong coffee hints of port and smoke. Flavor starts heavy on the sweet and moderatly bitter finishes lightly sweet and moderatly bitter and lightly acidic. roasted and chocolate malts, good balance, with a warm and chocolate finish. Medium to full bodied, creamy, and softly carbonated.

Bottle courtesy of Footbalm. Pour is a dark, thick, oil-like substance. Smells nearly perfect....roasty malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste is a little dry and a tad bit harsh. Would like to see this one a little sweeter.

Bottle from Chris (styles) Thanks! Pours out very dark in color with a tan head. Smell is chocolate, dark cherries (just a tad), coffee, roasted malts, and no alcohol. Taste is smooth and very creamy. Very thick and seemingly very powerful. Has a pretty bold chocolate taste that blends well with the cherry flavor it bring. Interesting and probably pretty unique. I liked this one alot.

12 oz bottle pours a dark black with a nice tan head that fades down pretty quickly. Lots of toasted bready chocolate roasted and alcohol aromas (maybe even some fusel alcohols in there). Medium bodied and creamy - my lips keep sticking to the glass. Sweet flavors coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, roast, but a bitterness underneath it all. Finishes dry with the alcohol. Pretty tasty overall.

Arcadia Imperial Stout 12 oz bottle Bottled winter ’05 (6 pk), basked in its glory 10/06 Medium pour in an English pint Poured black with a large creamy somewhat lasting light brown head with a small ring of lacing. Smelt strongly of burnt molasses and roasted coffee, some fainter dark chocolates and dark berries, kinda jammy. Taste was upfront moderate dark chocolate with a tinge of sweet fruity esters, some faint sour banana and apple, followed by a strong bitter burnt smokey taste with some creamy feel and light grassy hops on the average to long finish. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, velvety, caressing, softly carbonated, lightly astringent. Overall, almost perfect. The finish could use a bit more length, and the flavor could be amped up just a bit. As this is a year old brew, these factors could have died down a bit, for a year old imperial stout, this one is as close to perfect as I’ve yet to have. Bonus mystery sludge at the bottom too!

A very good stout here from Arcadia. (How many good breweries can one state have?) The pour is dark as night, with a great looking brown head. The aroma is fantastic--tons of chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is a great blend of those same malts and you definitely get a hint of those bittering hops in the very end of the taste. Great balance and fullness to this one.

Very dark pour. I found it to be a little lighter than what i’d like from an imperial stout, but it was quite pleasant. If i had access to it, i’d certainly drink it more often.

12 oz. bottle pours an inky black, developing a smallish brown head that subsides quickly. Burnt, grainy aroma is complemented by some spicy hops. Medium body, smooth feel, light carbonation. Bitter chocolate, espresso, licorice, and citrus rind combine for a pleasing flavor that finishes dry. Not a heavyweight, but smooth and drinkable.
