Commercial Description:
Black as coal in color, this bottle conditioned Stout has a velvety rich and sweet malt aroma. After pouring, a dense brown head gives way to a big, full-bodied and creamy texture that has flavors of roasted coffee and black currants, blending perfectly with the malt. A generous amount of hops add balance and complexity to this extraordinary stout that will continue to improve with age. A worthy beer to cellar and enjoy throughout the year.

Pours dark brown aith a light brown head. Smells of roasted malt and chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, cherries, and coffee.

Bottle (12oz). Thick opaque black, decent-sized brown lasting head. Lovely roast malt aroma, very deep, dark, and yeasty, light coffee, medium chocolate, pungent hops and nice tart fruit character, black cherries and plums. Taste follows, but soft, rather sweet yet deeply roasty, nice nutty character, and only a medium-long, ultimately dark, bitter finish. Thick body, very creamy mouthfeel - lovely, solid imperial, could drink many - oh, yeah - sneaky boozy, too.

Inky, vinous bitter dark chocolate bomb with sneaky sour undertones with a long plum finish. Stongest chololate I’ve ever experienced. Could use more carbonation. This is great but the arcadia porter is an awful bland smokey meat flavor.

Pour is black with thin wisps of dark tan cream on top. Aroma is full and chocolaty. The rich dark chocolate swirls up my nose and leaves me feeling spoiled. This is going to be good. Flavor is flush with rich dark chocolate and a decent amount of roast. The body is silky smooth and full. This is a truly luscious imperial stout. 8/3/8/4/18

RERATE is disappointing. 12oz bottle. Black pour. Aroma is dark chocolate but mostly roast. Really strong roast and bitterness a little alcoholic as it warms, quite average.5/3/6/3/15

Pours motor oil black with a dark brown head. Aromas has hops up front with emphasis on spice - rich chocolate malt in the background. Taste starts hoppy (mix of spice and pine), creamy and light bits of chocolate malts, then the hops get even more prominant on the finish - very piney. A nice imperial stout.

Michigan Brewers Festival 2006. Black body with a decent sized chocolate coloured head. Slightly soured roast, sweet underlying malt in the aroma. Flavour has a slight tang in the prominent roast forcing the dilute dark chocolate notes to the background. Medium palate. Interesting, but didn’t make me crave another. 6-7/4/7/3+/14

Interesting. Thanks be to Phil for this at the CU beer club meeting. Dark dark with a thin tan head that is medium lasting. The nose is mostly coffee with dark roast. The taste has a nice pull from alcohol but again mostly that roasted coffee bean skin with dark fruit. Overall pretty good.

2005 vintage. Pours pitch black with a small, tan head. Lasting hazy cover. The aroma is heavy roast, slightly burnt, coffee, raisins, chocolate. The flavor is loaded with prune juice, lots of molases, some chocolate. Full, sticky body, coating with a long, bitter dark chocolate finish.
