| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 1, 2005 acquired via trade with TAR. pours BLACK with a tan foamy head. I’ve never seen a bottle ooze foam like this one! poured about half the bottle into my .3L snifter and set the bottle down, then for several minutes the bottle looked like one of those snake fireworks things you would light as a kid, only in slow motion. it just kept oozing foam out of the top of the bottle. Oh yeah, back to the beer, sticky and sweet with a flavor of roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits and bittersweet chocolate. a bit too much carbonation for my taste, the carbonation seems to deract from the flavors in a way. Overall a nice IS, just a little different. Thanks Jeff! zathrus13 (1296), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2005 Black color with a medium tan head. Not much aroma at all, just a faint hint of barley. More in the flavor, but nothign else to match or enhance it. More like a weak barley wine than a stout. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 5, 2005 Tight, creamy head. A visually appealing stout - near perfect. The aroma is heavy - musty plums, raisens, whiskey and plenty of roasty beans. Complex body with strong notes of cherry, chocolate and some alcohol. Wonderfully complex for the pricetag! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2005 Updated: Feb 24, 200512oz bottle-thanks to Wolhfs for this fine MI stout. pours pitch black with a dense tan head. carbonation is lively and the bubbles in the head are all the same size. aroma is vineous with a slight sour note that ingraves its way into your nostrils. other aromas include dark chocolate, dark fruit, cherries (especially as it warms). Flavors of roast, chocolate, with that slight sour twang. The burnt note comes in the finish that meanders into a smokey/ash flavor that goes on for infinity. Medium body that is slightly fizzy when cold, but after it warmed a little, became much rounder (as it should). No alcohol detected whatsoever. another winner from the great north (MI).
