3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a thick black with a short lasting Carmel colored head. Aromas of booze, chocolate and malt. Taste is molasses, followed by a nice not too boozy finish. Mouth feel is a little lacking for this quality of a stout. A little light/thin.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled in 2010. Aroma is sweet, a lot of fruit, currants come to mind. I wish I could help here, but this beer smells exactly like every other beer they make. Appearance is very dark black, almost no head on a semi-aggressive pour. Taste is...yeah. Immediately I taste barley wine, and then the coffee bitterness comes in. Itís also super flat. Iíll attribute that to itís age or that it may be a bad batch. The mouthfeel is making me cringe. Overall, this is highly disappointing. Maybe not a drainpour, but Iíll know for sure in the next three drinks.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
November 6, 2012 on tap at cicero. Dark pour with tan head that faded quick and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste was consistent with alcohol at the end and a dry bitter finish that was too much for me. Medium to full body and relatively smooth.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle 2010 vintage from mariís. Pours pitch black with a half finger of tan head that dissipates nearly immediately. The aroma has chocolate, coffee, and some definite mocha notes. Taste has some chocolate up front with some coffee and alcohol on the finish. Solid but a little boozy for the alcohol level.

12oz bottle - pours opaque black with two fingers of tan head and decent lacing. Nose is alcohol and dark chocolate. Smells like a nitro. Flavors adds roastiness and caramel. Very dark character. Creamy mouthfeell. Bitter due to roast. hoppy enough to be a black ipa.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle @ B.R.A.D. Fest, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks Jetson! Pours a deep black appearance with a brown head. Strong anise, mild char/tar, roasty, light chocolate, a bit burnt aroma. Thick, a bit syrupy, super thick anise, light coffee, chocolate flavor. Anise over the top. Decent, I guess.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle, 2010 vintage. Little medium brown ring of head. Dark but not opaque color - a hue of red. Nice, big roasty aroma - some coffee, lightly burnt hops. Good big bitterness. Few dots of lace. Bigger body, good lighter crisp carbonation. Dry finish with a certain degree of chewiness to the texture. Some dark fruit aroma, and nuttiness. Some vanilla; significant sweetness. No sludge here, I suspect the recipe may have changed a bit in the last 10 years. A solid, satisfying imperial stout, though.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A sweet stout that ranks among any good rises. Raosty notes, dark fruits, boozy, but not too much. 2010 vintage.
