Aroma is somewhat light, and smells of coffee and dark malt. Flavor is coffee, baking cocoa, and roasted malts. I love the palate on this! It feels thick but has some light carbonation to keep things from getting to creamy. Finish is coffee bitter, but not to strong. Not bad. KnN (721), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Poured used engine oil black with a dark brown head. Aroma was roast, coffee, a bit of chocolate. Once it warmed up a little, the alcohol became a lot more apparent on the nose as well. Flavor was ok. Lots of roast, lots of big coffee characteristics a bit of chocolate. Mouthfeel was rich and full, but finish was pretty high on the bitter side. Pretty nice Imperial Stout though. Taste the same, with hints of sweetness. Pretty good, i prefer the Bells expedition stout to this though. NJBeerman013 (771), Trenton, New Jersey, USA

This beers flavor profile ranges from bitter roasted espresso on the cooler end to sweet over ripened fruit as it warms. It is medium in body, yet has a full mouthfeel. blutt59 (2098), Dallas, Texas, USA
