| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 18, 2004 Black with lace, decent aroma of chocolate. Good bittersweet. Bittersweet chocolate, roast, malts, medium-full taste. Anise, coffee, molasses edge. Better than other imperial stouts i’ve tried. Could use better hopping.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 11, 2004 Updated: Dec 12, 2004Bottle Pours a very thick black witha dense creamy brown head and lacing that is thick, fine and resiliant. Aroma is a rich chocolately, licorice with plenty of molassas and an marked but not over powering alcohol note. Flavors are sharp smokey and quite bitter. They seem to work together well though and the feel is very smooth. Finish is bitter and of charcoal but somewhat short lived and clean. Very nice brew. Thanks to Secret Santa ! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 3, 2004 Opaque with a slurpee like head that settles down to a thin layer. Aroma of cocoa, charred malts and a slight woody note. Fruity and slightly bitter, not as sweet as most Imperials I’ve had. Alcohol well hidden. Body is medium slightly dry. Overall a decent Imperial. Thanks Footbalm! matta (1138), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 23, 2004 I must thank the great rater BBB63 for sending me this beer in one of our first trades; it was well over a year ago, now.
The stout has been sitting in complete solitude in the back of my closet.
The body of a beer does not get any more opaque than this! This stout is darker than a crow that has sunken to the bottom of a tar pit. The head is a THICK rich lathered clump of dark khaki froth! I note a somewhat soy sauce like, charred yet salty aroma. This Impy’s flavor sets off a hint of barrel aging. Very oaky.. cask like flavors. It also has some lightly sweet chocolaty and toffee flavors, with a brilliant hint of fig… but those are mostly cloaked with an espresso and charred wood bitterness. But it’s all balanced out very, very nicely! The tan lacing that drapes the edges of this snifter glass is fine and wispy. The palate is tremendously creamy and velvet smooth…. What a terrific beer too set off my work week’s end... and it’s only Tuesday!

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 4, 2004 Bottle: Malty aroma of chocolate and fruit. Light coffee barely makes it’s presence known. Pours a dark brown, virtually black, with a large tan head. Much larger head than other imperials that I’ve had. Good retention. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, caramel, and light vanilla. Finish is coffee and some hops. Alcohol presence almost unnoticeable. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 30, 2004 Bottle. Deep black color. Brownish head fades to ring the edge of the glass. Decent lacing. Burnt and roasted grain aroma. Texture is a little oily, coating the tongue. Roasted grains are sometimes sharp in flavor. Hops towards the finish become more pronounced. A solid Imperial Stout.
