COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black as coal in color, this bottle conditioned Stout has a velvety rich and sweet malt aroma. After pouring, a dense brown head gives way to a big, full-bodied and creamy texture that has flavors of roasted coffee and black currants, blending perfectly with the malt. A generous amount of hops add balance and complexity to this extraordinary stout that will continue to improve with age. A worthy beer to cellar and enjoy throughout the year.

Pours thick and black. Medium head with dark mocha colour. Not much aroma. I expected it to jump at me, but no. Super tasty... roasty, toasty, bitter and dry. Thanks to hopsrus.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2003 Although Bell's is better known in that neck of the woods ,its lesser known neighbor also makes an excellent brew. This beer has a big roasted favor with hints of chocolate. It reminds of Stone's Imperial at a lesser price.

My hundedth beer and Sean’s 700th. But he’s slowing down these days, so maybe I have a chance to catch up :). Anyway, this is the first Imperial Stout that I’ve really enjoyed - big thick, and powerful with chocolate and fine roasted flavor. Interesting spicy anise notes, too.

So I haven’t been drinking much beer at all, let alone good beer, but Carolyn was making a trip to lansing and I needed number 700, so I asked her to pick up a few new bottles at Big Ten. And she comes back with this gem. I mean, a brilliant treasure from Battle Creek. Begins with a lucious aroma, exotic and dark and redolent with fennel and cinnamon and chocolate. But the exquisite sensations on the tongue! Huge flavour here - beutiful bitters both from the roast and the excellently accentuated hops and substantial, spiced, malty sweets that roller coaster in and out. OK, maybe giving me this beer was like giving a parched crawler in the desert a dip in lake Michigan, but holy cow did I enjoy this brew!

A nice stout, nice dark brown head, very dark body, good malt & chocolate flavor, one of Arcadia’s more impressive brews.

This is a really nice black beer. Not much carbonation, though. I drank it straight form the bottle, and it was pretty nice. Mild chocolate and what I think might be a roasted malt flavor towards the end. A very nice stout.

If Arcadia is all about copying the english styles then on this one they’ve done good.
