Jan 11, 2009 Black with a brown rocky head. Small spots of lace. Chocolate and vinous aromas with a touch of brown sugar. Musky oak as well as a touch of tobacco. Slightly nutty. Flavors again are bitter and vinous. Chocolate and some mocha with brown sugar and maple syrup. Nice body with a chocolatey finish

Jan 10, 2009 Courtesy of Sammy and later I also got a bottle from After4ever – thanks guys... It is pitch black with a small, creamy, nougat colored head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, dark fruits, licorice and chocolate. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour has a light sweetness and notes of dark fruits, roasted malt, licorice, caramel, chocolate, light smoke and a light bitterness. It is harmonic and nice.

Jan 5, 2009 12 oz bottle. pours jet black, but not too thick. typical imp stout pour (creamy, thick, and tinted on the brown side). the aromas are simple: chocolate and coffee. the taste mirrors. it’s a tasty stout, but not too complex. there are defintely hops and malts here, but the hops are simply overshadowed, even for a stout. it’s a nice brew, but not the best stout i’ve ever had. it’d be a good winter brew...go figure.

Dec 31, 2008 On tap at Capones. Pours a deep black with a medium creamy deep tan head that laced. Aroma of roasted malt, hops, chocolate, coffee and nuts. Flavor of the same with some caramel, a bit of alcohol, hops and a lot of bitterness coming through. Reminded me of a fresh Storm King.

Dec 28, 2008 12 oz. bottles via trade - We opened a 2006 and 2002. The 2006 poured a dark brown color with a faint, short lived light tan head. Light carbonation. Aroma is roasted malt, dark esters, and chocoalte. Flavor is much of the same with the addition of some alcohol in the flavor. A smooth, medium to full bodied beer. The 2002 was way past its prime. Tasted like oxidized soy sauce. I would not let this one go past 3 years. Overall, a nice beer.

Dec 25, 2008 12 oz bottle pours deep black with a tan creamy head. Big nose of espresso, licorice and alot of roasted grain. Big time flavor. Raisins, molasses, licorice, cream, cola, and slight tobacco flavors. Easy drinking for 8%. Nice way to start the Xmas day.

Dec 25, 2008 What an amazing extra.
2006 bottle. This is just a well aged, and amazing imp. stout.
Pours black, with mahogany head and lacing.
Aroma has plenty of dark fruits and light hops.
Taste, dark fruits - cherry, prunes - molasses and roasted that cover the palate.
Light bitter hops finish with resinous mouthfeel.
The beer seemed to be much higher in abv. The alcohol is very warming and enjoyable. Also had notes of licorice giving it a sweet sugary feel.
Very smooth and one amazing brew. Thumbs up.

Dec 20, 2008 Bottle, black pour with a small creamy black head. Aroma is very chocolatey with some good roasted malts and maybe a hint of booze. Flavor is well balanced between roasted malt chocolate and some hops. Nicely done effort.
