Rich, really thick, beautiful brown lasting head. Aroma is very grain husky. Chocolately, quite a big coffee presence, hoppy, almost a tad winey (lactic souring around the edges), but nothing too much, nothing out of place, holds together when warm, veiled alcohol better than almost any impy I’ve had...wow! Way better than expected, and I am not the site's greatest Imperial Stout lover. I am surprised. Balanced, nuanced, yet strong Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA

Sure, it is a good imperial stout but not quite of this stature. Pours opaque black with a moderate brown head. Aroma held notes of chocolate, dried fruit, some roasted coffee, alcohol. Medium bodied and smooth but lacking viscosity. Alcohol too evident in the flavor, detracting from the chocolate and coffee and fruit taste. A little salty at the finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2009 12oz bottle from Once Upon a Vine, Richmond. Nice thick pour, with visible yeast, and a miniscule cappucino colored head. Mild roasts in an aroma more dominated by dark fruits and a slight vinous quality. Thick mouthfeel and big chocolate flavors leading to a kind of Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar impression. Finish is slightly dry. Not bad. sunevdj (1790), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 21, 2008 12 ounce bottle from Gregis. Pour opaque pitch black. Medium brown head. A decent ring of lace left behind. I get some nice hops, alchohol vapors, dark roasted coffee, currants (I think), and some chocolate syrup as well. The flavor hits me heavily with chocolate syrup right up front. Cafe Mocha. Even, blanced finish. Maybe a bit on the drier side. Average carbonation. Medium body. Not too bad at all. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
