Not a very pronounced aroma for an imperial. Very bitter dark chocolate flavor with a sharp coffee notes and some dry piny hops. A little woody too. Oily full mouth feel with lots of carbonation. beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 11, 2006 Bottle. Opaque black pour, small tan head. Chocolate roasty aroma, with some medium and dark fruits, and something a touch milky. Dark moderately bitter chocolate and roasty malt flavors, not quite as fruity as the aroma to me. Bitter chocolate becomes even more pronounced at the end, and lingers a little. Goody body, and soft carbonation. Very good imp stout. nhorween (641), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 23, 2008 12 oz, cellar temp. Dark brown, nearly black, pour with a fine tan head. Roasty and hoppy, good smoky malt backbone and some alcohol in the nose. Nutty and some toffee. Flavor is lackluster and the finish is watery. All acrid smoke and coffee. I’m surprised I didn’t get any hint of that in the nose. Warming in the chest. Not great. MatSciGuy (641), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2009 12oz bottle. Very dark with almost no head. This one did not quite do it for me as much as some of the other imperial stouts I have tasted lately. Found it to be a bit on the sweet and syrupy side. jeffin7 (610), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
