3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle from cellar. I was once really bad about dating bottles that I cellared and am only guessing, but am certain that this one is at least two years old, and may be as much as three or four. Pours a thin brown head that dissipates quickly over an absolutely opaque brown beer. Nose is dominated by ripe fruits, esp. figs and raisins. Mouth-feel is a little thin, but I don’t mind it for some reason, in this beer. Once on its way down the hatch, the smokey notes of the roast come to the fore and the finish is a fruity sweetness balanced by the bitterness of the roast. I like this more than I probably should, tonight, but like it very much, never the less. My suspicion is that any I buy in the future will head to the cellar to become what this one has become: a very nice autumn brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle from Beer Bazaar in Hainesville. Bottle date is 12/18/2013. Pours black with a reddish tint, and little head. Aroma has licorice, anything else is minor in comparison. Taste is of big licorice, coffee, cocoa. Medium to full bodied with some alcohol. Finishes more sweet than bitter. The anise leads this, although it is blended interestingly with the coffee/cocoa. 14.4

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Drank from a pint glass poured from a twelve ounce bottle. Pours black not much head. Smells delicious, strong flavor as most imperials are.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a deep dark brown almost black with just a thin tan ring. Thin to medium slightly oily body that clings to the glass. Pleasant aroma of roasted nutty malt with a hint of dark fruit or dark chocolate. Flavor is roasted malts with some bitterness. A little bit of dry smoky flavor with a slightly harsh finish. Not as smooth or thick as I had hoped for. Not bad but I’ve had better.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 2/20
Poured into a snifter.
3.25 A: Black color. One finger of frothy light brown head. Retention is a touch below average and leaves no lacing.
1.5 S: This is quite disappointing. Got some major nail polish going on here. Otherwise, roasty and boozy.
1.25 T: Taste is even worse. Boozy, astringent, chemical. That’s all I need to say. This sucks.
3.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation with a light creaminess.
1.0 D: Couldn’t make it through. Drain poured at least half the glass. Shame on you Arcadia.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Solid but not worth the 4 pk price. Got my bottle as part of a craft your own 6pk. Lacks in aroma. Black pour with a light tan head and decent lacing early in glass but minimal later on. Nice creamy mouth feel, not overly heavy. Enjoyable flavor. Not a fan of the way this beer finished though.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A nice imperial stout. Very hoppy and boozy with a strong roasted malt back bone. Pours black with a nice white head. Had a draft at Arcadia ales.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2010 vintage. 12 oz bottle courtesy of Chris, served next to the barrel-aged version in a stem glass. Pours deep black with a small tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has huge vanilla and chocolate notes, along with molasses, dark fruit and earth. The flavour is slightly sweet with chocolate and vanilla, but with a slight coffee note as well. The finish is long, slightly bitter and earthy with espresso and roasted malts. On the palate it is medium full in body with a smooth, milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall a very nice imperial stout with prominent vanilla notes and elegant roasty malts. 2014-12-11

Black licorice is the first taste. Chocolate. Sugary and sweet. 12oz bottle pour at kincaides. Marshmallow and oily aroma. Decent but thought it was a little highly rated here
